Job description

Advanced Management Strategies Group (AMSG) is seeking a Senior Writer/Editor to support an opportunity we are pursuing with the Washington Headquarters Service (WHS) Explosives Safety Board. This is a Contingent Hire position.
AMSG is a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) verified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), delivering exceptional program and performance management services across multiple federal agencies, including the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Defense Health Agency (DHA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Washington Headquarters Service (WHS) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Location: Remote with periodic meetings held at the Mark Center in Alexandria, VA and the Pentagon.
Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant field.
Experience: Minimum five (5) years of experience working with the Office of the Secretary of War, and the DoW components
Clearance: Secret clearance required.
Start Date: April 2026
Duties: The Senior Writer/Editor will provide expert technical knowledge to Department of War (DoW) issuance development and report writing. Duties include:
  • Provide support in developing or revising all DoW Issuances (i.e., Directives, Instructions, Manuals and Manual Chapters).
  • Prepare draft Issuances and support staff documents within the timeframe and formats established in DoWI 5025.01, "DoW Directives Program".
  • Use input from the Government point of contact, existing Issuances, reviewer comments, committee or work group recommendations, or other sources, identified by the Government POC.
  • Support in planning and executing all ESO stakeholder meetings (e.g., panel, workshops, experts' group, board, committees, work group) to develop policy documents, perform program oversight, or other ESO program planning.
  • Provide assistance with meeting planning and agenda development; distribution of the agenda and read-ahead materials; facilitation during the meeting to maintain attendee focus on achieving meeting objectives; preparation of meeting minutes and follow-up documents; and provide other related meeting support.
