Summary Statement

Responsible for the creation, coordination, & release of\r\ninformation across multiple platforms with multiple partner agencies for daily\r\nand crisis communications. The incumbent\r\ncreates engaging content that exemplifies DEMA brand standards, &\r\nproactively creates interactive opportunities across messaging initiatives.\r\nTypes of content include but are not limited to media memos, press releases,\r\ninterviews& social media posts. This\r\nposition is also responsible for media and constituent relations.\r\nAll DEMA employees\r\nare essential state personnel required to be deployed 24/7 during emergency\r\nactivations.\r\n\r\n\r\n

Essential Functions

Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.\r\n\r\n Gathers, organizes, and formats information related to an agency's goals, objectives and services.\r\n Promotes an agency's image consistent with the overall direction of the agency.\r\n Coordinates timely and accurate responses and information to citizens, community groups or governmental agencies. \r\n Encourages participation in the use of agency services.\r\n Coordinates and conducts public meetings, media events or educational programs.\r\n Ensures a mutual sharing of information with other agencies, media and the general public. \r\n May supervise staff. \r\n\r\n\r\n

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Community Relations Coordinator \r\nApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:\r\n\r\n Three years experience in public relations ormedia relations to establish and promote a positive imageand inform or influence specific audiences through the use of internal and external communications such as public forums, print or electronic media, speech writing, writing/editing, marketing, advertising,or special events.\r\n Three years experience in gathering, organizing, formatting, translating, or interpreting information into forms more easily understood by the media or public, and disseminating the information through the use of print, broadcast or electronic media.\r\n Three years experience in public speaking which includes gathering, preparing and presenting information to the public or media groups. \r\n Six months experience in developing, planning and directing public events, campaigns, programs, or services to meet community needs. \r\n Six months experience in determining and evaluating alternative courses of action to resolve or mitigate controversial issues. \r\n Six months experience in developing policies, procedures or programs for dissemination of information to the public or media groups. \r\n\r\n
