Wound Care Representative information

What does a wound care representative do?

A Wound Care Representative is a healthcare professional who specializes in promoting wound care products and solutions to healthcare providers and facilities. They educate medical staff on the latest wound care technologies, provide training on product usage, and support clinicians in selecting the right products for patient care. Additionally, Wound Care Representatives may assist with product trials, gather feedback from users, and ensure that healthcare providers have the resources they need to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a wound care representative, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Wound Care Representative, you need a background in healthcare or medical sales, knowledge of wound care products, and often a related degree or clinical certification. Familiarity with CRM software, electronic medical records (EMR), and wound care-specific product lines is typically required. Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills set top performers apart in this role. These competencies are vital for effectively educating clinicians, driving product adoption, and supporting patient outcomes in a competitive healthcare environment.

What are some common challenges faced by wound care representatives in their daily work?

Wound Care Representatives often face the challenge of staying updated on rapidly evolving products and evidence-based practices within the wound care industry. They also need to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals who may have varying levels of familiarity with advanced wound care solutions. Additionally, balancing the educational aspect of the role with sales targets requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Building trust with clinicians and successfully navigating healthcare facility protocols are key components of success in this role.

What is the difference between Wound Care Representative vs Medical Sales Representative?

While both roles involve visiting healthcare providers, a Wound Care Representative specializes in wound management products and often has healthcare credentials, whereas a Medical Sales Representative covers a broader range of medical products with a focus on sales skills.

How to get a job in wound care?

To become a wound care representative, candidates typically need a background in healthcare, such as nursing, medical assisting, or related fields, along with knowledge of wound management products and techniques. Relevant certifications, like wound care certification or medical sales training, can improve job prospects. Experience in medical sales or clinical settings is often preferred, and strong communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Job description

Clinical Wound Care Representative

New Orleans, Louisiana | Curitec

Ready to Take Your Wound Care Career Somewhere New?

You’ve built your clinical skills. You know wound care. You know how to talk to nurses, providers, and facility leaders. Now it may be time for a role that lets you use all of that experience in a completely different way.

Curitec is looking for an experienced Clinical Wound Care Representative to support our long-term care partners throughout the New Orleans area.

This is not a traditional bedside position. It’s a field-based role that combines wound care expertise, education, relationship-building, territory management, and business development—with the independence to manage your day and the opportunity to build a true career around the expertise you already have.

What Makes This Role Different?

You won’t spend your day working a traditional patient assignment.

Instead, you’ll move throughout your territory serving as a trusted wound care resource to clinical teams, helping facilities improve wound care practices, supporting appropriate product use, providing education, and building strong partnerships.

And yes—you’ll also help grow the business.

If you enjoy people, thrive on independence, and like the idea of every day looking a little different, keep reading.

What You’ll Do
  • Build strong relationships with nurses, providers, administrators, and facility leadership

  • Provide wound care education, clinical support, and product training

  • Serve as a trusted resource for wound care best practices

  • Conduct in-services and educational sessions for facility staff

  • Support accurate wound documentation and appropriate product utilization

  • Ensure timely follow-through on orders, documentation, and Certificates of Medical Necessity

  • Develop relationships with prospective facility partners and introduce Curitec’s services

  • Independently manage and grow your assigned territory

  • Travel throughout the territory, which may include driving up to approximately a three-hour radius

  • Occasionally stay overnight when territory needs require it

Who We’re Looking For

We need someone who is clinically credible, confident, organized, and comfortable walking into a facility and building relationships.

You should be just as comfortable talking wound care with a nurse as you are discussing services with an administrator.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current PT, PTA, RN, LVN, or LPN license

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent hands-on wound care experience

  • Wound care certification strongly preferred

  • Strong communication and education skills

  • Excellent organization and follow-through

  • Comfortable learning and using multiple technology platforms

  • Comfortable working independently

  • Comfortable with early mornings and significant local travel

  • Comfortable spending significant time on your feet during facility visits

  • Willing to participate in both the clinical and business-development aspects of the position

What We Offer
  • Competitive base salary

  • Commission opportunity in addition to base salary

  • Car allowance and fuel coverage

  • Full reimbursement of approved business expenses

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans

  • 401(k) matching

  • Paid time off

  • Paid holidays

  • Initial wound care certification reimbursement in accordance with company policy

  • Monday–Friday schedule

  • No weekends

  • No holidays worked

This Could Be More Than Your Next Job

If you’re ready to step outside the traditional clinical environment without leaving wound care behind, this role gives you the chance to do exactly that.

You’ve built your wound care expertise. Now build a career around it.

Bring your clinical knowledge, your personality, and your drive. We’ll give you the opportunity to make an impact across an entire territory.

Apply today to join Curitec as our next Clinical Wound Care Representative in New Orleans.
