Job description

Startup Event Ambassador (Paid + Flexible)About Us

We’re building a new kind of social network focused more on commerce than content.

https://list-lab.org/

We’re pre-launch mode and expanding our presence at startup, investor, technology, and networking events across the nation.

We’re looking for outgoing, self-motivated and reliable team members who enjoy meeting new people and can confidently represent an early-stage tech company at live events.

The Role

As a Startup Event Ambassador, you’ll attend events on behalf of the company and help introduce attendees to our platform.

This is not a hard sales role.

You are not expected to close deals, pitch investors, or give technical demos.

Your primary responsibilities are:

  • Starting conversations
  • Describing the platform at a high level
  • Encouraging interested people to scan a QR code to sign up
  • Identifying strong leads
  • Representing the brand professionally at events

Your exact script is as follows:

When asked about the company, this is what you say – like literally:

We're a stealth startup with a team of 30+ launching something special soon.  What I can say is that it's a new kind of social network – less about content, more about commerce but not just shopping.  The platform is designed to tap into existing behavior and positioned to grow independent of economic uncertainty.

The ask (investors): Would you like to be on a short list for early access with preferred terms?

The ask (non-investors): Would you like to be on a short list for early access?

Your Playbook

Step 1: Find and attend events using tools such as Lu.ma, Meetup, Eventbrite

Step 2: Ask questions, people love talking about themselves

Step 3: Strike up conversations (with the script above)

Step 4: Invite prospective investors and founders to join our “first look shortlist”; present a QR code to streamline sign up and collect their phone number and email

Step 5: Ask for referrals and invitations to other public or private events

Step 6: Pass on leads to our team to qualify and engage

Compensation
  • $25/hour
  • Performance bonuses for qualified signups/leads
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Paid event shifts
Potential Earnings

Startup events can range from 2–4 hours.  We’re looking for a minimum of 5 qualified leads per hour worked.  High performers can earn substantial bonuses on top of hourly pay.

Ideal Backgrounds

You do NOT need startup or investor experience.  We care far more about energy, communication skills, and reliability than formal experience.

People who tend to do well in this role include:

  • Brand ambassadors
  • Trade show staff
  • Hospitality workers
  • Event staff
  • Promotional models

  • You enjoy talking to strangers
  • You’re naturally social and energetic
  • You can approach people confidently
  • You’re dependable and responsive
  • You can represent a professional brand well
  • You’re comfortable attending networking events independently

Bonus points if you have experience with:

  • Startup events
  • Real estate networking
  • Tech conferences
  • Street team marketing
  • Lead generation
  • Experiential marketing
