Reporting to the Planning Coordinator, the Short-Term Planning Engineer will be responsible for producing weekly, monthly, and quarterly short-term plans for the miningย  project.ย  He or she will develop development plans to meet objectives.ย  Based at the Windfall site in northern Quebec, the engineer will work a 15-day work schedule followed by 13 days off. Transportation, accommodation, and meals will be provided.ย 

Duties and responsibilitiesย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย 

Define monthly, weekly, and daily work schedules;

Monitor progress and adjust the schedule;

Participate in defining operating procedures for special work with the mining department;

Provide the mining department with implementation plans;

Monitor compliance with execution plans in collaboration with the mining department.

Ensure the monitoring and proper execution of work;

Monitor and adapt the planned schedule based on data collected in the field;

Be able to conduct field inspections on a regular basis;

Provide support to the mining and technical services departments;

Write reports, plans, and technical specifications;ย 

Provide visible leadership and promote a culture of safety;

Participate in the evaluation, analysis, and recommendation of process improvements;

When required, give presentations to members of management or other stakeholders to track the progress of work;

Actively participate in various organizational meetings;

Act as the company's representative on site and ensure that all work is performed according to best practices;

Comply at all times with occupational health and safety and environmental policies and rules and ensure that staff comply with these rules;

Perform any other tasks related to the position of short-term planning engineer that are relevant to the success of the project.

Required qualifications

Hold a university degree in mining engineering or geological engineering;

Member of the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec (OIQ);ย 

Have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in the mining field;

Have a good command of French and a good knowledge of English;

Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license;

Hold mining modules (FMTM) 1-2-3-4-5 and 7;

Hold a valid explosives license.


Technical skills

Have knowledge of the various processes according to industry standards;

Be proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, etc.) as well as specialized software such as AutoCAD and Deswik;

Knowledge of Ventsim and Rocscience software (an asset);

Have a good knowledge of the laws and regulations applicable to exploration and mining sites.


Basic skills

Demonstrate rigor in occupational health and safety;

Be an excellent communicator;

Be an excellent team player, demonstrate tact and political savvy;

Be flexible and open to change and constructive feedback;

Have good organizational skills and the ability to recognize priorities;
