Job description

Facilities Manager
Omro, Wi
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Our client is one of the largest diversified environmental services companies in North America, operating across solid waste, liquid waste, and soil remediation. Built through strategic acquisitions and organic growth, the company provides vertically integrated collection, transfer, recycling, and disposal services. They are committed to sustainable practices, operational excellence, and creating a safe, rewarding workplace for their people.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a ground-floor leadership opportunity created by a planned succession - the original owner is transitioning out following the company's acquisition. You'll take ownership of a multi-site hauling operation with roughly 55 employees across two primary locations, managing everything from routing and fleet maintenance to P&L performance and workforce development. The operation is stable and well-established, and the right leader will have a clear growth path into a General Manager title with long-term incentive compensation. This role is ideal for a strong single-site operator ready to step into broader multi-site accountability, or an experienced waste/transportation leader looking for real ownership in a smaller, high-impact operation.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
  • Lead day-to-day operations across two hauling sites (~55 employees, ~38 drivers), including a small satellite location
  • Screen, hire, train, develop, and evaluate all site personnel - build and sustain a productive, motivated workforce
  • Plan and optimize collection routes using Route Smart and dispatch systems to maximize productivity and minimize cost
  • Own the facility P&L: review monthly profit and loss statements, manage budgets, and drive adjustments to hit targets
  • Implement and enforce the company's Preventive Maintenance program to reduce downtime, extend fleet life, and control maintenance costs
  • Champion safety across all sites - run an accident prevention program that reduces claims, avoids injuries, and recognizes safe employees
  • Manage container repair, delivery, and switch-out operations to maintain a professional image and high service levels
  • Ensure all services are billed accurately and revenues are collected on time
  • Conduct commercial and residential route audits annually and roll-off account profitability analysis semi-annually
  • Identify growth opportunities in primary and secondary market areas - including contracts and acquisitions - and communicate market trends to leadership
  • Represent the company in the local community through civic engagement and professional presence
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations across all operations

WHAT YOU BRING
  • 5+ years of operations leadership experience in waste, environmental services, or transportation/logistics
  • Demonstrated track record managing a multi-person operation with P&L accountability
  • Experience with fleet management, routing, and dispatching in a collection or delivery environment
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills - hiring, coaching, discipline, and team development
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year institution, OR equivalent combination of education and hands-on operational experience
  • Working knowledge of equipment used to collect, process, or dispose of waste material
  • Comfortable reviewing financial statements and making data-driven operational decisions
  • Ability to work in both office and outdoor environments; some travel required

NICE TO HAVE
  • Direct solid waste industry experience (hauling, transfer, disposal)
  • Experience managing multiple sites or locations simultaneously
  • Familiarity with Route Smart, route optimization software, or similar fleet technology
  • CBA / union labor relations or workplace organization experience
  • Prior experience in an acquisition-integrated environment

WHY THIS ROLE
  • Top-tier national environmental services platform with continued acquisition-driven growth
  • Planned succession - stable operation ready for its next leader, not a turnaround
  • Clear promotion path to General Manager with long-term incentive compensation
  • Relocation assistance available for the right candidate
