Building RN/LPN

Austin Public Schools has an opening for a building RN/LPN at Austin High School, 7 hrs/day. The Building Nurse provides care within the school setting, which includes: Provide direct nursing care to students, including administering prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards, providing education and counseling related to medications and treatments, and obtaining vital signs as needed. Perform necessary first aid and emergency care based on training and established procedures. Recognize health concerns, implement appropriate interventions within the scope of licensure and training, and recommend solutions in accordance with RN/LPN licensing requirements, school district protocols, and direction from the Supervisor of Health Services. Collect and interpret data related to student health needs and provide care in accordance with established health protocols, individualized health plans, and nursing standards. Monitor and report communicable diseases and significant changes in student health conditions within the school setting. Organize and/or participate in health screening activities in accordance with health standards and district practices. Observe, record, and maintain accurate health office documentation, including student health office visits, medication administration, controlled substance counts, immunization records, attendance-related health concerns, current health conditions, screening results, monthly reports, and other data as assigned. Maintain accurate and confidential student health records in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and school district policies.

Training & Experience: Position requires a high school diploma; graduate of an accredited school of professional or practical nursing and active Minnesota RN or LPN licensure. Certification in CPR/BLS/AED.
