Position Summary
This position delivers the curriculum for the Veterinary Technician AAS degree that meets all requirements for approvals by the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association). This position will be assigned to instruct various courses within the Veterinary Technician Program as mutually agreed upon.
Responsible for the success of the Veterinary Technician Program courses assigned to instruct. Responsible for student success and completion of each course. This position must be a team- oriented employee.
Duties and Responsibilities
• This position is assists in the overall success of the Veterinary Technician program and courses.
• This position will follow responsibilities as outlined in the faculty handbook. This person will assist the Associate Dean of Career Advancement or other designated faculty in program development and all required approvals.
• Evening and weekend hours as well as working between three campuses are required as agreed. The program will be housed primarily at the Blue Ridge CTC Morgan County Center.
• This position will ensure the highest quality product in the delivery of courses. This position will assist in all aspects of course delivery including location, adapting to technologies available, scheduling, marketing and working with the appropriate administrative staff to coordinate these delivery needs.
• This faculty member will assist with the recruitment, retaining and advising of students in the Veterinary Technician Program
• This position will instruct curriculum to be delivered in hybrid and online formats where appropriate on behalf of Blue Ridge CTC.
• This position will ensure the highest quality product with AVMA approval in the delivery of the program and courses.
• This position will maintain detailed records of student assessment, attendance and performance and complete annual program assessment with data.
• This position will promote the Blue Ridge CTC mission and vision statements and represent Blue Ridge CTC in a positive manner possible when addressing students and in public presentations
Minimum Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Technician Science Preferred with instruction experience
  • -or-
  • Associate's Degree with current state license and 10 plus years instructing Veterinary Technician or related training and willingness to obtain a Bachelor's Degree within two years.
Experience
  • Instruction of veterinary technician or veterinary technician related training within a veterinary office.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to function in a team environment and follow Blue Ridge CTC policies.
  • Ability to follow AVMA requirements.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and prepare professionally written reports and communications.
  • Adult instruction experience and ability to translate academic requirements into required work skills.
  • Veterinary Office Management skills
Licensure/Certification Required
  • Current Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician License in West Virginia or ability to be licensed in WV
  • Valid Driver's License
