Job description

Company Overview
Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.
Overview
Joby Aviation is seeking a motivated Workforce Development Partner for an initial 6-month contract in Dayton, Ohio. A high-performing candidate will be considered for a full time role following the initial 6-month term. In this position, you will be instrumental in building a robust pipeline of skilled manufacturing talent to support Joby's aerospace production growth. Working closely with the Workforce Development Lead, Manufacturing General Manager, and other key stakeholders, you will develop and coordinate partnerships, apprenticeships, grants, and training programs. The ideal candidate is passionate about cultivating the next generation of professionals and building sustainable talent pipelines that adapt to our evolving production needs.
Responsibilities
  • Establish and cultivate partnerships with trade schools, technical colleges, workforce development boards, and industry organizations to build a steady pipeline of qualified manufacturing candidates for Joby
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate recruitment and talent pipeline initiatives including facility tours, manufacturing career fairs, hands-on skills demonstrations, and guest speaker engagements
  • Secure workforce development grant funding and coordinate grant and training reimbursement initiatives to support manufacturing workforce programs
  • Coordinate workforce development programs - including apprenticeships, internships, and structured on-the-job training - designed to funnel participants into manufacturing roles at Joby
  • Work closely with the manufacturing and training teams to align workforce development initiatives with production staffing needs and hiring timelines
  • Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices

Required
  • 3+ years of professional experience in workforce development or technical training
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Passion for education, technical training, and community engagement
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to track and coordinate multiple programs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read and speak English proficiently

Desired
  • Program management or project management experience
  • Experience in aerospace, composites, or electronics manufacturing
