Job description

Position Overview

The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent and project leadership team with the daily field coordination of ground‑up multifamily construction projects. This role assists with subcontractor management, scheduling, quality control, safety, inspections, documentation, and overall jobsite operations.

Projects may include large apartment communities, mixed‑use developments, workforce housing, and high‑density urban multifamily projects utilizing concrete podium and wood‑frame construction. The ideal candidate has hands‑on multifamily experience and understands the sequencing and coordination required for podium construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Superintendent with daily field operations on multifamily construction projects.
  • Support construction from foundations and podium construction through framing, MEP rough‑in, finishes, and turnover.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, inspectors, and field personnel.
  • Monitor daily subcontractor manpower, productivity, and progress.
  • Assist with three‑week look‑ahead schedules and daily construction planning.
  • Coordinate concrete, framing, waterproofing, roofing, MEP, drywall, finishes, and exterior scopes.
  • Conduct daily jobsite walks to monitor safety, quality, and schedule performance.
  • Review plans and specifications and communicate field conflicts to project leadership.
  • Assist with RFIs, field coordination, submittals, and drawing updates.
  • Coordinate inspections and ensure work is ready prior to scheduled inspections.
  • Track deficiencies and work with subcontractors to ensure corrective work is completed.
  • Assist with material deliveries, site logistics, staging, and equipment coordination.
  • Maintain daily reports, progress photographs, manpower records, and field documentation.
  • Enforce jobsite safety requirements and company safety procedures.
  • Assist with unit walks, punch lists, building turnover, and project closeout.
  • Support the Superintendent in maintaining project milestones and resolving field challenges.
Qualifications
  • 3–7+ years of construction experience.
  • Multifamily construction experience required.
  • Podium construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ground‑up apartment or mixed‑use construction.
  • Familiarity with Type III and Type V wood‑frame construction.
  • Understanding of concrete podium construction, framing, MEP rough‑in, building envelope, and interior finishes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and subcontractor coordination.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced field environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting 100+ unit multifamily projects.
  • Experience with large urban or high‑density apartment developments.
  • Experience coordinating concrete, wood framing, MEP, drywall, and interior finish trades.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and scheduling software.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
