Job description

Company DescriptionOverview

We are looking for a hands-on Workfront Platform Specialist who will serve as the technical product owner and domain expert for an enterprise Adobe Workfront environment.   This individual will be responsible for ensuring the platform is correctly configured, governed, and continuously optimized to support large-scale marketing operations.

The ideal candidate combines extensive technical expertise in the Adobe Workfront platform and Workfront Fusion automation with the communication skills needed to guide vendor teams. They translate business requirements into platform specifications and encourage adoption of standard methodologies throughout a complex, multi-team organization.

This is not a passive oversight role. The right candidate is equally comfortable reviewing a Fusion automation scenario, challenging a vendor's technical approach, and presenting a platform roadmap to senior collaborators.

Responsibilities

Platform Ownership & Governance

  • Serve as the technical product owner for an enterprise Adobe Workfront instance - owning platform health, configuration standards, and architectural integrity
  • Conduct regular platform audits - identifying misconfigurations, technical debt, inconsistencies, and opportunities for optimization across workflows, templates, custom forms, and reporting structures
  • Establish, document, and enforce platform governance standards - including naming conventions, metadata structures, project templates, request queues, workflow configurations, and access management policies
  • Define and maintain Workfront guidelines documentation - building institutional knowledge and ensuring platform decisions are well-reasoned and repeatable
  • Oversee defect tracking and issue resolution - triaging platform issues, coordinating with internal partners and external vendors, and driving timely resolution

Workfront Fusion & Automation

  • Review, validate, and optimize existing Fusion automation scenarios - evaluating them against standard methodologies for scalability, error handling, performance, and maintainability
  • Partner with development teams to design and implement new Fusion scenarios supporting workflow automation, cross-platform data movement, and campaign operational processes
  • Document all Fusion scenario logic, dependencies, data mappings, and maintenance procedures - reducing vendor dependency and building sustainable in-house capability over time
  • Evaluate and advise on integration architecture between Workfront/Fusion and adjacent platforms - finding opportunities to streamline data handoffs and reduce manual intervention
  • Support the evolution of the automation capability from vendor-dependent to increasingly in-house managed

Vendor Oversight & Partner Collaboration

  • Act as the technical oversight lead for vendor teams doing Workfront build and Fusion development work - reviewing work products, providing structured feedback, and raising quality concerns
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between business partners, vendor developers, and internal platform teams
  • Partner closely with the business-side Workfront Product Owner - translating business requirements into technical platform specifications and ensuring alignment between business intent and platform execution
  • Communicate proactively with senior collaborators - surfacing risks, raising blockers, and delivering structured status updates without being prompted

Workfront Planning & Platform Evolution

  • Support the adoption and buildout of Adobe Workfront Planning - including campaign calendaring, cross-team marketing visibility, and intake workflow management
  • Contribute to the long-term platform roadmap - anticipating platform evolution (including the likely convergence of Workfront Standard and Workfront Planning) and positioning the environment accordingly
  • Drive user adoption and change management - working with team leads to improve platform engagement, enforce standards, and build capability across user communities
Qualifications

Education & Experience Required

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Marketing, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on Adobe Workfront experience - deep expertise in platform configuration, workflow design, request queues, custom forms, reporting, and access/permission management
  • 3+ years of hands-on Workfront Fusion experience - ability to read, validate, fix, and optimize Fusion automation scenarios; understanding of trigger types, module chains, error handling, and data transformation
  • Demonstrated experience managing or overseeing vendor/development teams - reviewing technical deliverables, providing structured feedback, and holding external teams accountable to quality standards
  • Strong understanding of marketing operations workflows - including campaign intake, project initiation, cross-functional approvals, and status tracking
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment - comfortable with sprint planning, backlog grooming, and iterative delivery
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical partners and translate business requirements into platform specifications
  • Proven experience producing platform governance documentation - including technical specs, runbooks, and governance frameworks

Education & Experience Preferred

  • Experience with Adobe Workfront Planning or demonstrated familiarity with its feature roadmap
  • Working knowledge of complementary automation/integration platforms - Zapier, MuleSoft, Boomi, or similar iPaaS tools
  • Familiarity with enterprise marketing technology stacks - experience working alongside platforms such as Adobe Campaign Classic, Adobe Journey Optimizer, Adobe Experience Platform, or comparable MarTech
  • Understanding of relational databases and data modeling as applied to Workfront metadata, reporting, and system integrations
  • Experience with Product Operating Model principles and product ownership frameworks
  • Prior experience in a staff augmentation or embedded consulting model

Core Competencies

  • Technical Platform Ownership - deep platform knowledge paired with a governance-first attitude
  • Vendor Management - ability to direct, evaluate, and hold accountable external development teams
  • Communication & Influence - can operate credibly with both developers and senior marketing leadership
  • Self-Direction - manages own priorities in a complex, multi-vendor environment without close supervision
  • Proactive Risk Management - surfaces issues early rather than waiting for problems to escalate
  • Documentation Discipline - leaves every environment better documented than when they found it
