JOB PURPOSE:
Focused on Financial Accounting including General Ledger, Financial Reporting, and Procurement. This role ensures that Workday Financial Management operations are efficient, effective, and aligned with the organization's strategic objectives. The position serves as a key liaison between Finance business units and Information Technology, translating business requirements into scalable Workday solutions that improve operational efficiency, financial accuracy, compliance, and reporting capabilities.
SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:
This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but requires the ability to collaborate across different teams. The incumbent may occasionally provide guidance to other analysts or team members as necessary.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Operating within a dynamic and fast-paced environment, this position supports the configuration, enhancement, and optimization of Workday Financial Management applications. The incumbent partners closely with Finance leadership, Accounting, Procurement, Budget, Grants, Payroll, Human Resources, and Enterprise Technology Services to implement solutions that support institutional financial operations. The role requires strong analytical skills, technical expertise, business process knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Serve as the Workday Financial Management Systems partner supporting designated Finance functional areas, including General Ledger, Financial Reporting and Procurement.
  • Provide consultation and collaborate with Finance Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), operational staff, and leadership to identify business needs and recommend Workday solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional business units and technical teams to gather requirements, assess impacts, and develop scalable system solutions.
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert on current and upcoming Workday Financial Management capabilities, recommending innovative approaches to improve business processes.
  • Stay current with Workday releases, new functionality, and product roadmaps, evaluating features for adoption and implementation.
  • Support Finance business units during Workday feature releases by coordinating testing, validating functionality, and identifying opportunities to improve business processes.
  • Analyze and translate business requirements, functional specifications, and change requests into technical configurations and system enhancements.
  • Configure and maintain Workday Financial Management functionality, including Business Processes, accounting rules, organizations, security roles, approval workflows, financial dimensions, and integrations.
  • Design, develop, and maintain custom reports, dashboards, calculated fields, EIBs, Core Connectors, Workday Studio integrations, and Prism Analytics solutions where applicable.
  • Support inbound and outbound financial integrations while monitoring interface performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring data integrity.
  • Partner with Finance and technical teams to support system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), regression testing, and validation of new functionality.
  • Assist Finance business units in maintaining financial master data, including worktags, organizations, suppliers, customers, accounting structures, and related reference data.
  • Provide production support through incident management, issue resolution, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions while documenting solutions and maintaining knowledge base articles.
  • Evaluate the impact of Workday releases and organizational changes on existing configurations and recommend system improvements and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Payroll, Student Financials, Grants Management, Procurement, Treasury, Budget, and Enterprise Technology Services on cross-functional initiatives and integrated business processes.
  • Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and end-user support to Finance staff, business stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, configuration documentation, process flows, testing scripts, and training materials.
  • Participate in scheduled and ad hoc training to remain current on Workday Financial Management functionality, financial regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Adhere to governance standards while ensuring security, internal controls, financial compliance, data quality, and audit readiness.
  • Follow established system development standards, change management processes, and Workday configuration best practices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience supporting Workday Financial Management.
  • Experience configuring and supporting multiple Workday Financial modules, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, Expenses, Asset Management, Banking and Settlement, Projects, and Grants.
  • Experience with Workday reporting, calculated fields, Business Processes, security, EIBs, Core Connectors, and integrations.
  • Experience supporting Workday implementation, optimization, or post-production support within higher education, healthcare, or a complex enterprise environment is preferred.
  • Workday Financial Management certifications are preferred.
