Job description

Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Workday Reporting & Analytics Lead to join our People Analytics team.

Oscar is the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform and a relentless focus on serving our members. We started Oscar in 2012 to create the kind of health insurance company we would want for ourselves-one that behaves like a doctor in the family.

About the role:

This role will serve as the product owner and technical architect for our reporting ecosystem, ensuring people data is accurate, automated, and scalable. This position is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of standardized Workday reporting solutions, leading the governance framework to establish uniform company-wide metric definitions (such as headcount and retention) to eliminate offline data manipulation.

You will report into the Senior Manager, People Analytics.

Work Location: This position is based in our New York City office, requiring a hybrid work schedule with 3 days of in-office work per week. Thursdays are a required in-office day for team meetings and events, while your other two office days are flexible to suit your schedule. #LI-Hybrid

Pay Transparency: The base pay for this role is: $101,844- $133,670 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, and annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities:

  • Productize, scale, and maintain tailored talent strategy dashboards to ensure HR Business Partners, operational teams, and business leaders have real-time, automated access to core workforce insights.
  • Execute monthly and quarterly leadership dashboards and presentations while continuously building automated, self-service alternatives to reduce manual deck creation over time.
  • Design, configure, test, and deploy dashboards tailored to the needs of our stakeholders across the People team and company.
  • Maintain WD reporting configuration to reduce tech debt - auditing, enhancing, and curating a centralized, searchable Report Catalog to maximize report discoverability.
  • Maintain Workday reporting health by leading projects to audit, enhance, and strategically decommission reports/dashboards to significantly reduce technical debt.
  • Establish data definitions and calculated field metrics that serve as a single, company-wide source of truth, driving cross-functional alignment and fact-based decision making.
  • Recommends process improvements and enhancements to operations and policies based on a proactive evaluation of the current state.
  • Lead discovery discussions with stakeholders to document reporting requirements and trends while driving learning documentation and resources
  • Proactively audit and optimize the report catalog to minimize technical debt, while supporting development of solutions contributing to the larger People Analytics roadmap.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 2+ years experience developing Workday reporting and dashboard solutions, with specific expertise in creating, performance tuning, and optimizing complex Calculated Fields (e.g., Evaluate Expressions, Lookup Related Values, True/False logic) across various data sources.
  • Understanding of Workday data structures (organizations, job architecture, supervisory organizations, etc)

Bonus points:

  • Experience building interactive dashboards and data pipelines using Workday Discovery Boards, Workday Prism Analytics, or specialized People Analytics/BI tools (e.g., Visier, Tableau, PowerBI) to blend external data sources and drive stakeholder self-service.
  • Proficiency leveraging Generative AI platforms (e.g., Google Gemini) and prompt engineering as a technical lever to rapidly prototype, debug data logic, and automate routine technical documentation.
