At Christman, we're not just implementing technology-we're transforming how our business operates. As a Workday Functional Analyst, you will serve as the primary technical configurator of the Workday platform, translating requirements and specifications provided by functional subject matter experts (SMEs) into system configurations, integrations, and business process workflows. You will partner closely with HR, Finance, Payroll, and other business stakeholders to configure and optimize Workday modules that support their defined processes. Your expertise will be crucial in translating business process requirements defined by SMEs into Workday configurations, managing system modifications, maintaining high data quality standards, and optimizing the platform for Christman.

Additionally, you will serve as a key liaison between internal teams and external vendors, supporting the deployment of new features and system enhancements throughout the development and integration lifecycle.

What You Will Do:

Workday Configuration & Optimization

  • Configure and enhance Workday modules (HCM, Compensation, Payroll, Benefits, Financials) based on business requirements

  • Translate stakeholder needs into scalable workflows, configurations, and data structures

  • Support security design, data governance, and system integrity through audits and analysis

  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and documentation

  • Advise on integration design, including feasibility, risks, and system impacts

System Lifecycle & Stakeholder Partnership

  • Partner with SMEs and business leaders across HR, Finance, Payroll, and IT throughout the full system lifecycle

  • Act as a technical liaison between internal teams and external vendors

  • Support system releases, enhancements, and ongoing optimization

  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to system functionality

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation

Integrations & Technical Support

  • Build and support Workday integrations using Studio, EIBs, Core Connectors, APIs, and Web Services

  • Troubleshoot integration issues and provide ongoing system support (break/fix, monitoring, incident management)

  • Translate functional requirements into technical solutions and specifications

  • Support testing efforts (unit and integration) and ensure solutions perform as designed

  • Analyze system updates and recommend improvements to reporting and integrations

Additional Contributions

  • Communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, user-friendly way

  • Support project planning, risk mitigation, and implementation efforts

  • Design and maintain ETL processes and data flows

  • Optimize system performance using knowledge of data architecture, interfaces, and databases

  • Assess downstream impacts of system changes and integrations

What You Bring to the Table

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software, Engineering, Business Administration or related disciplines

  • (3) to five (5) years' experience as a Workday Functional Analyst or similar Workday configuration role, with a strong understanding of human resources, finance, and payroll processes and business requirements

  • Deep technical expertise in Workday integrations and business processes

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team environment

  • Experience in project management and strategic planning

  • OR equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Workday Certified

  • Familiarity with compliance and best practices in Workday data security

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Ability to rapidly assimilate new technologies and be able to communicate effectively with various teams

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including analytical, problem solving, organizational, and issue resolution

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including human resources, finance, payroll. and IT, to solve business problems

Travel
This position reports to the Lansing corporate headquarters. Minimal travel outside of Lansing required, depending on the project, travel to other areas may be required. Majority of travel done during work hours; overnight stays may be required on an as-needed basis.
