Job Summary:
The Workday Functional Consultant serves in a Vanderbilt Health-wide enterprise role in central departments of Human Resources supporting Workday system functionality and integrating systems with a focus on business processes, application support and optimization. Performing a variety of routine and complex tasks to maintain timely and accurate data integrity through analysis and reporting.
This role is responsible for analyzing business requirements, recommending and testing Workday solutions, and managing system enhancements. The Workday Functional Consultant supports Workday release activities, communicates new functionality to stakeholders, and helps maintain data integrity.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm CST.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • 4+ years of hands-on Workday configuration experience, with strong expertise in Business Process design and configuration.
  • Proven ability to partner with business stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into scalable Workday solutions.
  • Functional knowledge across Workday modules including Absence, Benefits, HCM, and Performance Management.
  • Strong consultative and relationship-building skills with experience supporting cross-functional business teams.
  • Experience configuring and supporting the Workday Absence module, including leave plans, PTO programs, and related business processes.
  • Experience configuring and supporting the Workday Performance Management module.
  • Strong understanding of requirements gathering, solution design, and evaluating enhancement requests to determine system capabilities, limitations, and downstream impacts.
  • Demonstrated success in a client-facing or stakeholder-facing role, serving as a trusted advisor or SME
  • Experience creating, running, and analyzing Workday reports to support business decision-making and operational needs.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to confidently facilitate meetings, present recommendations, and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Working with VUMC functional areas to provide support for the use and maintenance of functional systems including, but not limited to, Workday.
  • Drive ongoing process improvements or redesign within VUMC's Workday that align with enterprise strategic objectives and vision.
  • Collaborate with functional workstreams to identify business needs, functional design, integration review, testing requirements and deployment plans to meet current and future needs.
  • Display business acumen to understand business needs or challenges and recommend solutions.
  • Provide excellent customer service and education to end users of Workday and integration service/ support requests through internal ticketing system.
  • Engage with insight and support for break/fix, new functionality, process improvements, innovative solutions and sprint planning.
  • Review and analyze Workday Release of new and updated functionality. Guide functional workstreams through Workday Release UAT and regression testing to production.
  • Create, define, and manage test requirements with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Configure, test, and maintain business processes, condition rules, notifications, templates, etc.
  • Prepare files and perform complex data uploads into Workday through EIB ensuring accuracy.
  • Utilize online Workday Community resources to troubleshoot issues and guide efficiencies.
  • Maintain data integrity by performing audits, creating/running reports and analyzing data utilizing Workday delivered and custom reports for data analysis and validations.
  • Work with vendors and other customer groups to support the design and review of integration requirements.
