Job Description:

The Workday Systems Administrator III – Finance is responsible for the day-to-day administration, support, and optimization of Workday Financials and related systems. This role serves as the operational owner of Finance technology solutions, ensuring system stability, accuracy, and continuous improvement to support business operations.

This individual partners closely with Finance, HRIS, IT, and external vendors to support system enhancements, troubleshoot issues, and drive user adoption while maintaining compliance and data integrity.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the primary administrator for Workday Financials, including system configuration, maintenance, and ongoing support.
  • Coordinate periodic system health checks and release impact assessments.
  • Manage system updates, releases, and enhancements in partnership with IT and Workday vendors.
  • Monitor system performance, integrations, and data integrity across finance-related processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues while providing timely support to business users.
  • Maintain security roles, access controls, and data governance standards.
  • Support Workday Financials implementation efforts, including testing, configuration validation, and deployment activities.
  • Lead or contribute to enhancement initiatives and system optimization projects.
  • Collaborate with internal IT teams and external vendors to deliver scalable solutions.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve system functionality, processes, and user experience.
  • Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve process efficiency.
  • Perform system audits related to usage, integrations, and data accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with financial controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and validate data flows between Workday and downstream systems.
  • Support audit requests by providing system documentation and reporting.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation, configuration inventories, and control evidence.
  • Act as a liaison between Finance, IT, and business users to support system usage and improvements.
  • Gather business requirements and translate them into system solutions and documentation.
  • Anticipate user needs and proactively update system configurations and support materials.
  • Provide functional expertise on finance processes including GL, AP, AR, Procurement, and Payroll integrations.
  • Develop and maintain clear, concise business and system documentation.
  • Create job aids, user guides, and training materials for Workday Financials users.
  • Deliver training sessions for new tools, system updates, and process changes.
  • Support change management efforts by ensuring effective communication and knowledge transfer.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for critical system processes.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in financial systems administration, preferably with Workday Financials.
  • Experience supporting ERP systems (Workday strongly preferred; Infinium, Stratton Warren, or other ERP systems a plus).
  • Experience working with finance and procurement processes.
  • Experience supporting testing cycles, including UAT, regression, and post-deployment validation.
  • Strong understanding of financial processes (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, Payroll integrations).
  • Support report development, dashboards, and ad hoc data requests for Finance stakeholders
  • Experience with Workday Financials configuration, reporting, and security preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into user-friendly language.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-starter with a proactive and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a focus on user adoption and satisfaction.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, or holidays during system upgrades or critical periods.
  • Familiarity with data integrations and reporting tools is a plus.
