Description
Purpose: To support the daily operations of the 3D printing lab by preparing print jobs, managing equipment and materials, and assisting with the automated washing and post-processing of finished models.
Job Description: The A.T. Still Memorial Library supports the training of future healthcare professionals to effectively access and use the best evidence/information available to enable them to provide the highest quality of healthcare possible. As a student assistant within 3D Print Services, you will directly support this mission by helping manage lab workflows, collaborating on projects, and ensuring the smooth operation of our 3D printing equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with the 3D Print Services Manager to organize digital 3D files and build a visual catalog for patrons to browse when ordering models.
Help log, monitor, and track incoming print requests to ensure projects are completed efficiently.
Load finished prints into the automated washing station, handle delicate models with care, and perform basic post-processing.
Regularly move, carry, and transport 3D printing supplies and equipment components around the workspace.
Complete additional lab or library tasks as assigned by the manager.

Requirements
Qualifications: Knowledge of 3D printing or CAD software is a plus. First or second-year student preferred but not required.
Skills:
Comfort learning new software.
Ability to spot minor print defects, keep digital files organized, and track orders accurately.
Friendly, clear communication skills.
Steady hands to work with small hand tools and handle delicate, freshly printed models.
A proactive attitude toward learning workflows and troubleshooting failed prints.
Special characteristics: Must have a current Federal Work-Study award package to be eligible.
Physical Requirements: Candidates must possess strong manual dexterity and close-up visual acuity to work with hand tools, handle delicate print models, and load prints into the automated washing station. The role involves frequent sitting for post-processing and computer tasks, as well as bending, reaching, and moving around the lab. Candidates must be able to regularly lift, carry, and transport up to 30-35 lbs to move 3D printing materials, supplies, and the washer unit/tanks throughout the workspace. Additionally, candidates must be comfortable working around standard 3D printing materials while wearing any required protective gear.
