Job description

Description & Requirements
What to Expect:
The Research Coordinator is responsible for supporting a large, multi-state study (BRITE Trial) focusing on school-based suicide prevention programming. They will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the study protocol and data collection at the school sites. Research Coordinators/Interventionists will be certified to deliver the SOS Signs of Suicide (SOS) and Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM) suicide prevention programs, completing study staff trainings for both interventions at the beginning of the study and participating in ongoing training and fidelity monitoring. They will be responsible for collecting measures related to the delivery of and fidelity to the study interventions. Frequent travel to school research sites around Central and Southern Idaho to engage with schools and to deliver the SOS and YAM study interventions to 8 th , 9 th , and 10 th grade students will be required.
The Research Coordinator/Interventionist will also facilitate the coordination of study recruitment, informed consent, and research visits/assessments for study participants at their assigned schools. Research Coordinators/Interventionists will serve as a resource for school partners as needed to provide problem-solving assistance regarding study-related procedures. They will be responsible for data collection, data entry, data proofing and cleaning, and resolving data queries. They will also be trained to follow study safety protocols for students screening at risk for suicide. They will support the data manager for the study, including support with data cleaning and basic data analysis. They will assist as needed with scheduling of meetings, taking meeting minutes, organization and distribution of study communications, conducting routine quality control processes, processing of travel reimbursements, and other administrative duties.
Typical hours: Mon-Fri ~8a-4:30p, and flexibility to work earlier or later shifts as needed to accommodate engaged partners and school staff availability. Hours subject to change dependent on project needs. This position is temporary (5 years expected, depending on availability of grant funding).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with and comfort working with groups of adolescents
  • Comfort discussing suicide and mental health in a non-judgmental environment
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Training in epidemiology, data science, or a related field

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: 3 years' experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
