In particular, the Biology Department is searching for an individual capable of assisting instructors in delivering a welcoming, captivating, and intellectually challenging learning experience to our pre-major biology and pre-health science students.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities- Under lecture faculty and/or lab instructor supervision, specialist will aide students with classroom or laboratory activities, provide peer-tutoring on topics, assist the instructor in course preparation, provide general maintenance/organization of classroom and Canvas spaces, and/or grade formative assessments.
- Specialists will collaborate with course instructors to determine specific tasks for the course.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
- Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
- Hours typically range from 2-20 hours per week, depending on curricular needs as determined by the course instructor.
Minimum qualificationsCompletion in the college biology course in which they will assist with a B or above grade.
