Position Announcement
The Kahlert Applied AI Institute is growing-and we're looking for driven, curious students to join our team.
As an AI Learning Experience Researcher (LXR), you'll play a key role in shaping how people learn AI at UVU and beyond. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in AI, UX research, product development, media, and curriculum design-all while working on projects that impact the entire campus and Utah community.
You'll collaborate closely with the Curriculum Design and AI Media teams, testing and refining courses, videos, and learning experiences to make them more engaging, effective, and impactful.
Summary of Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
  • Conduct user research by planning and running interviews, in-person observations, and usability tests
  • Recruit and coordinate participants to gather fast, actionable feedback on content (often within 24-48 hours)
  • Test draft courses, videos, and learning materials before release to ensure quality and usability
  • Ask thoughtful, insight-driven questions to understand how users experience content
  • Design and deploy short, engaging surveys that users are willing to complete
  • Use AI tools to analyze feedback, identify patterns, and generate insights
  • Create clear, concise reports that help teams improve their work
  • Monitor early versions of products to ensure everything functions correctly
  • Collaborate with faculty, students, and stakeholders across campus to gather input and keep projects moving
  • Continuously improve processes and outcomes by asking, "How can we make this better?"
  • Support a variety of additional projects as assigned

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
  • Currently enrolled UVU student
Preferred (Nice-to-Have Qualifications)
  • Earned a B in courses such as DWDD 2410 / 2410R / 4240, COMM 3025, CS 3410, or CS 2700
  • A UX or research portfolio that shows real, impressive results
  • Experience designing and testing websites or digital products
  • Experience in sales, pitching ideas, or presenting to others-you're comfortable communicating and influencing

Successful candidates will demonstrate:
  • Experience using AI tools to efficiently produce high-quality work
  • Strong curiosity and a self-starter mindset with a willingness to learn independently
  • High attention to detail and the ability to catch subtle patterns or issues others might miss
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to follow through
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to observe user reactions, engagement, and behavior
  • Interest or background in UX research, psychology, instructional design, or related fields
  • Ability to analyze information and translate it into actionable recommendations
  • A track record of reliability, initiative, and high performance in challenging situations
