Job description

Student Assistant - Investments

The student will be responsible for working with the Investments team at ASU Enterprise Partners (ASUEP) on all current and future initiatives including assisting with the management of the endowment and operating investment pools as well as all other investment functions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining manager databases, reviewing and summarizing private investments, auditing performance and cash flow data, and assisting in audit and tax preparation. The position will require approximately 10-20 hours per week, with additional availability during the non-school year.

What you'll do:
  • Supports the ASUEP Investment Office with the management, operations, and oversight of the long-term, intermediate-term, and sustainable-responsible-impact investment pools

  • Supports activities of the ASUEP Investment Office including manager/company research and due diligence, investment onboarding, reporting, and documentation management

  • Tracks and reports on internal and external Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) manager information, metrics, and data, including proxy voting

  • Interacts and collaborates with our custodian, OCIO, and investment managers

  • Maintains manager database including fund summaries, performance, and valuation data, contact information, and other related data

  • Improves efficiency of internal and external investment reporting through the creation of dashboards and other automated processes

  • Maintains and audits investment performance data and private investment cash flow database

  • Prepares and organizes legal documents, tax forms, and communications related to ASUEP's investments

  • Supports accounting, tax, audit, and administrative activities related to ASUEP's investments

  • Other duties as assigned

What you'll need:

  • A demonstrated willingness to learn and ability to work well with others

  • Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and by phone

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential prospect information

  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects

  • Ability to quickly learn new software programs as needed

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexible

  • Team-oriented strategist able to effectively manage complex situations involving numerous and sometimes competing constituencies

  • Adept at navigating complex environments with evolving priorities and communication plans

Relevant qualifications:
  • An undergraduate or graduate student at Arizona State University pursuing a degree in a related field, such as Finance, Accounting, and/or Economics

  • The student must be willing to sign and abide by a confidentiality agreement.

Preferred education and experience:

  • A current Junior, Senior, or Graduate student at Arizona State University pursuing a degree in a related field, such as Finance, Accounting, and/or Economics

  • Experience in the field of investments, audit/tax, and/or accounting is preferred

Preferred skills and abilities:

  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel

  • Familiarity with investment industry software like Bloomberg and Morningstar
