Mission Critical | Data Center Delivery | Design-to-Construction Execution
About VADD
VADD delivers complex, mission-critical environments where schedule, quality, and reliability are non-negotiable. We partner with owners and contractors to bring high-performance data center facilities online and we do it with accountability, technical rigor, and a team-first mindset.
Were looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer who can lead electrical design for data center projects while understanding how design translates into real-world construction. This role requires deep technical capability, coordination strength, and the ability to carry design intent from concept through field execution.
Role Summary
This role is responsible for leading electrical design from:
- Concept development through Issued-for-Construction (IFC)
- Utility coordination and service strategy
- Power distribution architecture
- Equipment selection and technical alignment
- Design coordination across disciplines
- Construction-phase technical support
The ideal candidate has strong experience in commercial or industrial electrical design and construction environments and understands large-scale building systems. We are not seeking residential-only experience. This role requires familiarity with complex electrical infrastructure and fast-paced project delivery.

- Develop and oversee:
- Utility service planning and coordination
- MV distribution and switchgear design
- Generator plants and paralleling systems
- UPS systems (N+1, 2N), PDUs, RPPs, busway
- Grounding and bonding systems
- Lighting and lighting control systems
- Produce and review one-lines, riser diagrams, panel schedules, and load calculations.
- Develop and validate Basis of Design (BOD) narratives.
Technical Execution & System Reliability
- Perform or review:
- Short-circuit and coordination studies
- Arc flash studies
- Load growth and capacity planning
- Ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, and owner standards.
- Design for redundancy, maintainability, and long-term operational reliability.

- Lead electrical coordination during BIM/clash detection reviews.
- Participate in design workshops and milestone reviews.
- Identify and resolve constructability conflicts early.
Design Quality & Documentation
- Own electrical deliverables through SD, DD, CD, and IFC milestones.
- Maintain high documentation standards and clear technical communication.
- Ensure design packages are complete, coordinated, and procurement-ready.
- Track decisions, revisions, and technical clarifications.
Construction Support
- Support early procurement of long-lead electrical equipment.
- Respond to RFIs and review submittals during construction.
- Conduct site visits to validate installation against design intent.
- Support startup, energization planning, and commissioning readiness.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of electrical design experience in commercial, industrial, or mission-critical construction environments.
- Proven experience designing medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems.
- Experience taking projects from concept through construction documents.
- Strong understanding of NEC and electrical design standards.
- Experience working on large-scale building infrastructure (not residential-only).
- Familiarity with equipment such as:
- Switchgear and transformers
- Generators
- UPS systems
- Distribution panels and busway
- Strong coordination skills in multi-disciplinary project environments.
- Construction-forward mindset with understanding of installation sequencing and field constraints.
Preferred Qualifications
