As an Animal Cruelty Intelligence Analyst, you'll help uncover the people, relationships, patterns, and networks behind organized animal fighting and other serious cruelty cases, turning scattered pieces of information into intelligence that can help advance investigations and support enforcement action.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging beneath the surface, connecting the dots, and finding meaning in information others may overlook. Your work will directly support investigators, attorneys, and law enforcement partners and help strengthen a more proactive, intelligence-led approach to combating animal cruelty.

What You'll Do

In this role, you'll use open-source research and intelligence analysis to support active animal cruelty investigations and help identify new investigative opportunities, with a particular focus on organized animal fighting. You'll connect information across people, places, businesses, online activity, and jurisdictions to uncover relationships, patterns, and leads that may not otherwise be apparent. You'll turn that information into clear, actionable intelligence products that help investigators, attorneys, and law enforcement partners make informed decisions and move investigations forward. Your work will also help strengthen our proactive, intelligence-led approach to identifying criminal activity and disrupting networks involved in animal cruelty.

Temporary Role Details:

• This is a temporary, contingent position and the person hired will be employed through a third-party staffing agency.
• The target hiring range is $25 per hour and may be modified in the future.
• The position will last through 2026. There may be an opportunity to extend into 2027 but it is not guaranteed or confirmed.

Where and When You'll Work

The intended schedule is approximately 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule. Hours may be worked on days and at times that are convenient for the team members to be, provided work responsibilities and deadlines are met. This remote-based position is open to all eligible candidates based within the United States.

Responsibilities

Intelligence Research & Lead Development

• Conduct open-source intelligence (OSINT) research to support active investigations and proactively identify new investigative opportunities.
• Identify investigative leads, criminal associates, businesses, locations, and online identities connected to animal cruelty investigations.
• Analyze social media, public records, court records, business filings, news articles, property records, and other publicly available information.
• Research individuals, organizations, online communities, and criminal enterprises associated with organized animal fighting.
• Develop intelligence-driven leads by identifying emerging threats, repeat offenders, geographic patterns, and criminal networks that may warrant further investigation.

Analysis & Intelligence Products

• Identify patterns, trends, and connections across multiple investigations and jurisdictions.
• Analyze relationships among individuals, organizations, locations, businesses, and criminal activity to identify investigative significance.
• Synthesize information from multiple sources to identify connections, gaps, and potential avenues for further investigation.
• Develop intelligence products, including: Link analysis charts; Association diagrams; Timelines; Organizational charts; Subject identification; Intelligence summaries
• Prepare concise written intelligence reports, investigative summaries, and briefing materials.
• Present findings in a clear, actionable format appropriate to the investigative or operational need.

Investigative & Operational Support

• Collaborate with investigators, attorneys, veterinarians, and law enforcement partners to support investigative planning and operational decision-making.
• Respond to investigative intelligence needs and help identify additional information or analysis that may advance a case.
• Provide intelligence support before, during, and following investigative operations, as needed.

Information Management & Security

• Maintain investigative databases and organize intelligence in a clear, accurate, and searchable manner.
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive investigative and intelligence information.
• Ensure intelligence records and products are appropriately documented and maintained in accordance with organizational protocols.

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Experience as a criminal intelligence analyst, crime analyst, investigator, or law enforcement officer.
• Experience investigating or supporting animal cruelty cases, particularly organized dogfighting or cockfighting.
• Experience supporting criminal investigations and developing intelligence that supports active investigations and identifies new investigative opportunities through intelligence analysis.
• Experience with: IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook; ArcGIS or GIS mapping software; Microsoft Visio; Excel; Airtable; Westlaw; Open-source mapping and social media research tools
• Familiarity with criminal intelligence principles, including the intelligence cycle and analytical methodologies.
• Open-source intelligence (OSINT) research skills.
• Ability to identify relationships among people, businesses, locations, vehicles, organizations, and online identities.
• Ability to recognize behavioral indicators and criminal patterns associated with organized animal fighting.
• Ability to synthesize large volumes of information into concise, actionable intelligence products.
• Familiarity with criminal tradecraft and analytical methodologies.
• Experience creating: Link charts; Network diagrams; Timelines; Event chronologies; Intelligence bulletins
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written communication and report-writing abilities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Education and Work Experience

• Candidates should have relevant training and experience in criminal intelligence analysis, crime analysis, investigations, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education, specialized training, and practical experience will be considered.
