Job description

Job Responsibilities Are you an experienced professional looking for new opportunities to further your career. The South Carolina Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate just like you to apply. This position will offer great benefits with the state, including 15 days of annual and sick leave per year or more depending on applicable state service.

Responsibilities of the AG Liaison - Team Lead: INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY This position will be responsible for the planning, development, implementation and follow-through of all education efforts put forth by the Farm Department. This position will be responsible for maintaining working relationships with all associated teaching staff and integrating real-life situational learning into the developed curricula. This employee will also be responsible for the oversight and implementation of Work Based Learning and Internship opportunities that are available to students.

This position requires a working knowledge of farm-related activities. The employee must be able to work with livestock of all species and varieties. Knowledge of forages, row crops, horticultural products, machinery and equipment relevant to farm-based production are required.

Experience with teaching high school age students is preferable but not explicitly required. The employee will receive directives from the supervisor and will need to use their own discretion and knowledge to develop methods and procedures to accomplish the goals set forth. Coordinate and oversee SAE and Work-Based Learning (WBL) program.

Ensure proper care and management of all animals and facilities. Supervise students in animal care and program activities. Transport students to support program participation.

Maintain accurate animal and program records. Collaborate with supervisors, teachers, and administration. Monitor, evaluate, and report program progress, support outreach programs.

Minimum and Additional Requirements Master's Degree or experience equivalent in an Agriculturally related field, a valid driver's license, and agricultural experience. Additional Requirements: Position may require overnight travel. Position may require the employee to work evenings and weekends.

Position requires on-call shifts and callback. Position requires routine driver duties. Position requires frequent stooping and/or bending.

Position requires frequent lifting: 50 lbs. Position requires essential declaration. Position may be required to report to work during emergency situations.

This position may require the following at times: strenuous labor, working with livestock and unpredictable situations, environmental extremes and working in all types of weather, coordination of large groups, public speaking, and strategic thinking. Position requires working in adverse and extreme and inclement weather conditions are required.
