Job Summary:

The Fine Woodworking Department at RRCC is seeking a Teacher’s Assistant to assist students and faculty in the wood shop area.The teacher’s Assistant supports the instructor with preparing the classroom and for lab demonstrations, assists students with classroom assignments, gathers and prepares materials, and helps clean up and maintain the class and shop spaces.
This position reports to the FIW Shop Manager, Jeff Rabideau. The work schedule for this position is Saturdays, 9 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.at the Lakewood Campus location. May require hours outside of normal work schedule.
This position may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.

  • Effective communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, time management, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and use sound judgment.
  • Ability to plan, evaluate, and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to set well-defined goals, display a high level of initiative, and be successful under minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet established deadlines
  • Ability to work within a team and with others who may have differing perspectives, to achieve goals.
  • Ability to maintain and repair woodworking machinery, minor electrical connections and diagnostics.
  • Must be efficient in all aspects of Electric Guitar construction to include a broad scope of Luthier techniques.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a certificate in Electric Guitar Construction and a minimum of 6 months working within the field.
  • Completion of course FIW 101, Intro to Woodworking and/or experience in woodworking preferred
  • Supporting role with a minimum of 1 year of experience crafting and constructing Electric Guitars.
  • Provisional duties include preparing and preparing materials for the instructor as well as support in guidance and knowledge of students.
