Job description

Orion RED a manufacturer of trade show exhibits and retail store fixtures has an immediate full-time opening for an experienced Woodworking Machine Operator in our Smithfield, RI location.  This individual would set up, operate, and maintain machinery - such as CNC-panel saws, routers, edge band and dowel machines - to cut, shape, and form wood products.  They will ensure quality by inspecting finished parts against specifications, using precision tools, and performing routine, minor maintenance to maximize production efficiency and safety.
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • Machine Setup and Operation:   Configure and operate manual and computer controlled (CNC) woodworking machines to produce furniture, cabinets and components.
  • Production Monitoring:  Watch machines for proper operation, adjusting controls as needed to correct issues.
  • Quality Control:  Inspect finished workpieces using calipers, rules, and gauges for accuracy, smoothness and shape.
  • Material Preparation:  Select, examine, and secure wood stock, ensuring it meets project specifications.
  • Maintenance:  Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure longevity.
  • Safety Adherence:  Follow all safety procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Technical Proficiency:  Strong understanding of woodworking tools, machinery design, and production processes.
  • Mathematical Skills:  Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Physical Stamina:  Capability to stand for long periods and lift heavy materials.
