Job description

Job Title: WMS Support Engineer
Job Location: San Ramon, CA OR Beverly Hills LA
Duration: Contract
Job Summary

  • Lead RCA and permanent fixes for complex, recurring WMS incidents and problems across inbound, storage, picking, shipping, and inventory flows.
  • Troubleshoot and coordinate resolution for interface issues between WMS, ERP, OMS, and other integrated systems.
  • Define and enforce support runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge base for L2 support teams.
  • Provide on-call and peak-season support coverage as the WMS L3 / SME and coordinate incident bridges for critical production issues.
  • Monitor key WMS health metrics and warehouse KPIs, and raise structured problem tickets or change requests with development or vendor teams when code/configuration changes are required.
Key Skills
  • Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience supporting Warehouse Management Systems, including at least 3 years in an L3 / SME role in a production environment.
  • Direct experience supporting any WMS in a multi-site distribution or fulfillment network (experience with FDM4 is a plus, not mandatory).
  • Strong ability to analyze WMS logs, jobs/batches, and interface messages to isolate and resolve root causes.
  • Working knowledge of SQL or similar query tools for data validation, transaction tracing, and inventory/order reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with RF devices, label printers, and warehouse network basics, enabling effective collaboration with infrastructure and hardware teams.
  • Proven experience with incident, problem, and change management (ITIL), including leading bridge calls and documenting RCAs.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain SOPs, knowledge articles, and configuration documentation for L1/L2 support and operations teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work directly with DC managers, operations leaders, and business users under time pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex WMS behavior in simple, business-friendly terms.
  • Experience in server-side programming using any object-oriented language (e.g., Java, Python, etc.).
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor, independently driving analysis and resolution of complex issues.
