Job description

Material Handler/Forklift Operator

Group O is seeking a Material Handler to contribute to the smooth flow of materials and products throughout our facilities, ensuring timely delivery and efficient operations. As a Material Handler/Forklift Operator, you play a critical role in the efficient operation of our warehouse facilities. Your primary responsibility is to safely and accurately move materials, products, and goods within the warehouse or production area using forklifts and other material handling equipment. Your commitment to safety, accuracy, and teamwork will be essential in maintaining a productive work environment. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical skills, physical capabilities, and personal attributes that contribute to the efficient and safe operation of our warehouse facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport materials to and from designated areas within the facility.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks, pallets, racks, and shelves, ensuring proper stacking and securing of goods to prevent damage.
  • Assist in inventory control activities by accurately counting, recording, and organizing materials and products in designated storage areas.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for any damages or defects and report any discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and handling materials to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse or production area, including clearing aisles, removing debris, and ensuring equipment is safely stored when not in use.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and production team members to prioritize tasks, coordinate material movement, and meet operational goals and deadlines.
Job Qualifications

Education/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma

Experience:

  • 6+ months of prior material handling / fork truck equipment operation experience.
  • Experience with WMS software.
  • Proficiency in operating various types of forklifts and material handling equipment.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong diligence and ability to accurately follow instructions.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with radio frequency (RF) scanning equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sitting for extended periods of time.
