Job description

E-Commerce Website Designer & Launch Specialist

Print-on-Demand • Apparel • Branded Merchandise • Full-Time

Help Build Successful Online Brands

Underground Threads is a fast-growing technology company that helps entrepreneurs, apparel brands, artists, influencers, schools, businesses, and organizations launch professional online stores using our proprietary white-label e-commerce platform.

Unlike traditional web design agencies that simply build websites, our mission is to help clients build profitable online businesses. We specialize in custom apparel, print-on-demand products, promotional merchandise, and branded online storefronts.

We're looking for an experienced E-Commerce Website Designer who understands that great online stores are more than attractive—they're designed to convert visitors into customers.

If you enjoy combining creative design, branding, merchandising, and customer consulting to help businesses succeed online, we'd love to meet you.

Job Summary

As our E-Commerce Website Designer & Launch Specialist, you'll work directly with entrepreneurs and businesses to design, build, and launch professional online storefronts using our white-label podOS platform.

You'll guide clients through every step of the process—from understanding their brand and target audience to designing attractive storefronts, organizing products, creating effective navigation, and helping optimize their stores for conversions.

This is a highly creative, customer-facing role that combines web design, branding, merchandising, user experience (UX), and e-commerce consulting.

Rather than designing websites from scratch, you'll customize and optimize professionally developed e-commerce templates to create attractive, easy-to-use online stores that help clients succeed.

What You'll Do

• Meet with new clients to understand their business, brand, products, and target customers

• Design attractive, mobile-friendly online storefronts

• Customize layouts, color palettes, typography, banners, and homepage content

• Create compelling product collections and category navigation

• Organize merchandise to maximize customer engagement and sales

• Optimize storefronts for user experience (UX) and conversion

• Upload graphics, logos, promotional banners, and lifestyle imagery

• Configure featured products, collections, and promotional sections

• Recommend merchandising strategies that improve customer experience

• Assist clients with branding and visual consistency

• Train customers on managing their stores after launch

• Work closely with our production and software teams to ensure a successful launch

Required Experience

We're looking for candidates with experience designing or managing e-commerce websites.

Experience with one or more of the following platforms is highly preferred:

• Shopify

• Shopify Plus

• WooCommerce

• BigCommerce

• Wix

• Squarespace Commerce

• Adobe Commerce (Magento)

• Printful

• Printify

• Etsy

• Amazon Seller Central

Experience working with companies that sell apparel, promotional products, gifts, or consumer products online is especially valuable.

Preferred Skills

The ideal candidate understands:

• E-commerce merchandising

• Product organization

• Homepage layout strategy

• User experience (UX)

• Mobile-first design

• Conversion optimization

• Product photography presentation

• Brand identity

• Visual storytelling

• Basic SEO principles

• Google Analytics

• Canva Pro

• Adobe Photoshop

• Adobe Illustrator

• Figma

Basic HTML/CSS knowledge is helpful but not required.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who naturally thinks like both a designer and a merchant.

You enjoy:

• Creating beautiful online shopping experiences

• Helping clients grow their businesses

• Understanding customer buying behavior

• Improving website conversions

• Organizing products into intuitive shopping experiences

• Solving creative challenges

• Managing multiple projects

• Working directly with entrepreneurs and business owners

Most importantly, you understand that a successful e-commerce website is measured not by how beautiful it looks—but by how well it sells.

Why You'll Love Working Here

Every project is different.

One week you may be launching a clothing brand.

The next week you'll help a local school, nonprofit, brewery, artist, church, restaurant, or influencer launch an online merchandise store.

You'll have the opportunity to combine creativity, branding, marketing, merchandising, and technology while helping clients build successful businesses.

As our software platform continues to expand, you'll have the opportunity to grow into a leadership role helping shape the future of our e-commerce services.

Bonus Experience

Candidates with experience in any of the following will stand out:

• Print-on-Demand (POD)

• Custom apparel

• Promotional products

• Graphic design

• Digital marketing

• Email marketing

• Product photography

• Social media branding

• Content creation

• AI design tools

• Shopify Apps

• Klaviyo

• Meta Ads

Portfolio Required

Please include examples of e-commerce websites you have designed or significantly contributed to.

We're especially interested in seeing stores that demonstrate:

• Strong branding

• Excellent user experience

• Effective product organization

• Mobile-friendly design

• Professional visual presentation

• Conversion-focused layouts

If you're passionate about helping businesses launch successful online stores—not just attractive websites—we'd love to hear from you.
