Central Operations Specialist (Contract Leave of Absence Coverage โ€“ 3 Months)

Location: Santa Clarita, Rancho Mirage, or Cerritos, CA

Schedule: Mondayโ€“Friday

Pay: $24.00โ€“$28.00/hour

Duration: 3-Month Contract

Work Environment: 100% Onsite

Position Overview

A well-established commercial bank with locations throughout Southern California is seeking a Central Operations Specialist to support its wire transfer operations during a 3-month leave of absence. This is an excellent opportunity for banking professionals with wire processing experience who thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. In this role, you will process domestic and international wire transfers, provide exceptional internal customer support, ensure compliance with banking regulations, and help minimize operational risk through accurate transaction review and processing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process incoming and outgoing domestic and U.S. dollar international wire transfers within established deadlines.
  • Review wire transactions for accuracy, compliance, and potential fraud.
  • Perform customer callback verifications for transactions flagged as potentially fraudulent or as requested.
  • Reconcile daily wire activity between the wire automation platform, the Federal Reserve Bank, and correspondent general ledger accounts.
  • Process service messages, drawdowns, returns, reversals, and other wire-related transactions.
  • Research and resolve wire transfer inquiries, discrepancies, and exceptions.
  • Prepare customer advice notifications upon request.
  • Respond to internal customer and employee questions regarding wire transfer activity.
  • Maintain required documentation for reporting and certifications.
  • Monitor and process wire exception queues through completion.
  • Ensure compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), OFAC, Customer Identification Program (CIP), and all applicable banking regulations.
  • Independently resolve routine operational issues while escalating complex matters when appropriate.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in wire processing or a related banking operations role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of banking regulations, including BSA, AML, OFAC, and CIP requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other banking software applications.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively and provide outstanding internal customer service.
