The Production Supervisor, OEM Division, is responsible for coordinating daily production activities within the cable and wire manufacturing area to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. This role leads and supports production team members, monitors workflow, enforces safety and quality standards, and ensures production targets are met according to schedule.  

Essential Job Functions

Production & Operations

Lead production activities for cable and wire manufacturing lines (extrusion, stranding, braiding, jacketing, testing, etc.).

Assign work, prioritize tasks, and balance labor to meet production schedules.

Monitor production output, efficiency, scrap, and downtime; take corrective action as needed.

Set up and change over equipment according to production requirements and specifications.

Ensure materials, tools, and documentation are available prior to production start.

Leadership & Team Support

Provide hands-on leadership and direction to operators and technicians.

Train, coach, and mentor team members on equipment operation, quality standards, and safety procedures.

Serve as the first point of contact for production issues, escalating when appropriate.

Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Identify, collaborate, and integrate processes with other departments to drive overall success. 

Quality & Compliance

Ensure all products meet customer specifications, drawings, and quality standards.

Perform and document in-process inspections and quality checks.

Enforce adherence to ISO, IPC, OSHA, and internal quality and safety requirements.

Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality or production issues.

Safety & Housekeeping

Enforce all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.

Lead by example to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment (5S).

Report and help investigate safety incidents, near misses, and hazards.

Documentation & Reporting

Complete production reports, shift logs, and downtime records accurately and on time.

Communicate shift handovers clearly, including issues, priorities, and status updates.

Assist with tracking KPIs such as productivity, scrap, and on-time delivery.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, quality, and safety.

Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Support new product launches, trials, and process validations.


Requirements

Education and Experience

      Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Management, or a related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

5+ years in operations/production management or supervision.

A solid understanding of manufacturing a product with specifications and quality controls.

Ability to read and interpret work instructions, drawings, and specifications.

Basic computer skills (ERP systems, MS Office, data entry, email).


Preferred Qualifications

Experience with extrusion, wire drawing, stranding, or cable assembly processes.

3+ years' experience in the wire and cable industry a plus.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.


Work Environment

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs. throughout the shift to observe and assist operators. 

Exposure to manufacturing environment including noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.

Work Schedule

Our facility operates 24/7 using a 2, 2, 3 shift/work day model - work 36 hours one week, 48 hours next week - off every other Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Work 14 days a month. Qualified candidates must be able to work a flexible/rotating work schedule, including weekends, and cover overtime as needed. Night shift hours are 5p to 5a EST.
