Position Summary:
Under general supervision, the Lab Technician will be responsible for conducting all lab tests, monitoring and recording ferments, preparing blending and fining trials, as well as vineyard sampling. This position requires a high level of organization, the ability to work independently, and keen attention to detail.
Duties:
- Perform analysis of grapes, juice, fermentations, and wine following standard operating procedures and protocols
- Perform data entry using various types of applications
- Maintain data integrity and impartiality
- Prepare wine for bottling by making tank adjustments to meet specifications
- Prepare blending and fining trials under the guidance of the winemaker
- Participate in blend evaluations, tasting panels and sensory projects as requested
- Assist with field work, such as grape sampling
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lab equipment and workspace
- Follow and interpret instructions from the winemaker and other team members
- Work closely with the winemaking team to ensure smooth operations and quality control
- Possibly assist with cellar work during harvest

Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in a field of Science preferred
- Previous experience working in a winery lab or similar environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
- Flexibility to work shift hours and weekends, especially during harvest
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment as needed
