Job description

What success looks like in this role:

We are looking for an experienced Windows Server Administrator with senior-level expertise in VMware and ESXi to join our team. In this role, you will manage and maintain Windows Server environments (2012, 2016, 2022), perform migrations and upgrades, and implement automation to streamline administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will possess advanced troubleshooting skills, strong scripting capabilities, and the ability to lead small projects while ensuring system reliability and security.

Responsibilities

  • Build, migrate, and perform in-place upgrades of Windows Server operating systems (2012, 2016, 2022).
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain server hardware and software.
  • Coordinate system backups, storage, and network operations.
  • Provide second-level remote support for enterprise systems, networks, and desktop applications.
  • Perform remote installations and advanced troubleshooting, delivering technical solutions for complex issues.
  • Execute complex changes and prepare detailed implementation plans.
  • Monitor servers, antivirus updates, and user administration.
  • Conduct daily health checks, analyze logs, and investigate incidents.
  • Relay alerts and status updates to clients and management.
  • Prepare clear and accurate technical documentation.
  • Develop and deliver user and technical training; may lead small teams on defined projects.
  • Automate server deployment and administration tasks to improve efficiency.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience with proven technical expertise.
  • Senior-level experience with VMware and ESXi.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server setup, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell and PowerCLI; ability to create scripts in Perl, Python, or similar languages.
  • Experience with Microsoft SCCM, App-V, Ivanti Application Control, Symantec Endpoint Management.
  • Familiarity with Windows 10/7, Microsoft Office Suite, and enterprise security tools.
  • Knowledge of databases, patch management, LAN/WAN networks.
  • Understanding of network security systems, intrusion detection, and data backup strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance.
