Job description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a versatile and customer-oriented Home Services Technician to join our team at Marvin Home Center. This full-time role involves hands-on work like drywall, finish carpentry, and window/door installation. The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems and working independently. In addition to fieldwork, this position includes maintenance jobs for Marvin Headquarters and Visitor’s Center, and in-store support with sales, stocking, and inventory during slower periods. The role also involves being on-call for maintenance and emergency repairs at company-owned Warroad Real Estate properties, requiring seasonal checkups and coordination with contractors. This is a full-time position with weekday hours and weekend on-call responsibilities. 

Schedule: Monday–Friday, full-time. On-call Weekends for Warroad Real Estate. 

Highlights of your role:

Manage and perform small repair, installation, and maintenance jobs for residential and light commercial customers and Marvin Headquarters and Visitor Center buildings, including but not limited to: 

  • Drywall patching and repair
  • Siding ang gutter repair
  • Basic landscaping and trimming
  • Pressure washing and window cleaning
  • Window installation and adjustments
  • Finish carpentry, trim work, and custom wood projects
  • Shelving, cabinets, countertops, doors, window coverings, weatherstripping, and other handyman tasks 

Provide on-site evaluations to recommend solutions and materials. 

Deliver excellent customer service both in-store and at job sites. 

Safely operate hand and power tools in compliance with company and safety guidelines. 

Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and time spent. 

Load, transport, and unload materials for projects as needed. 

Collaborate with store staff to ensure projects are completed efficiently and meet customer expectations. 

This person will also be on call for company-owned Warroad Real Estate properties. 

  • Performing routine maintenance
  • Seasonal checkups
  • Emergency repairs

Coordinating advanced repairs with preferred contractors and managing the needed repairs until completion 

You're a good fit if you have (or if you can):
  • Proven handyman, maintenance, or construction experience.
  • Required skills: drywall repair, window and door installation, and finish carpentry.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Comfortable working at various heights on ladders and in confined/small spaces when needed.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions.
