High Voltage Project Manager - Utility & Renewables
LOCATION: Austin, TX area- Relocation Assistance available
HYBRID - Office and Work From Home Schedule
A leading developer and operator of renewable energy high voltage transmission line systems in Texas is looking to grow its Operations Leadership Team with the addition of a High Voltage Project Manager.
This is a critical role for the organization that works directly with the Operations Leadership Team on Project Management and Project Engineering initiatives taking high voltage transmission line / substation projects from the pre-construction phase through to commissioning / energization. It will have oversight of multiple substation or t-line construction projects at a time and be accountable for success of all high voltage EPC initiatives across the organization.
They organization have a flat structure which gives their employees direct access to executive management and the ability to gain a diverse amount of experience on various projects.The scope of their operations includes transmission (t-line), substation, regional control centers, and distribution systems with interconnects to both utility-scale solar and wind assets.

Responsibilities:
  • The High Voltage Project Manager / EPC Project Manager - Leads full-life cycle high voltage substation and transmission renewable energy system projects from conception through to closeout/completion and successful commissioning
  • The High Voltage Project Manager / EPC Project Manager - Acts as the main Project Engineering & Commercial Leader for internal/external stakeholders involved in various stages of the high voltage transmission renewable energy system projects with key a focus on operational P&L management as well project execution
  • The High Voltage Project Manager / EPC Project Manager - Provides direction to Subcontract Managers, Engineers, EPC Firms, and Consultants
  • The High Voltage Project Manager / EPC Project Manager - Actively involved in high voltage substation and transmission project design reviews to ensure quality
  • The High Voltage Project Manager / EPC Project Manager - Develops and implements high voltage substation and transmission renewable energy system project timelines, schedules, permitting, budgets, risk management, and contingency plans
  • The High Voltage Project Manager / EPC Project Manager - Takes ownership of compliance tracking, project troubleshooting, gap analysis, mitigation of threats, and project milestone timelines across for high voltage substation and transmission interconnection systems
  • The High Voltage Project Manager / EPC Project Manager - Leads commissioning/installation initiatives and management of site based Construction Managers

Skills/Requirements:
  • 5-10+ years experience of Project Management experience focused on high voltage substation, transmission line, transmission renewable energy systems, or large scale energy infrastructure EPC projects ( PMP certification is a HUGE PLUS)
  • MUST have an Engineering Degree
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) - preferably Electrical Engineering & Civil Engineering
  • Experience in full-life cycle Project Management of High voltage EPC including management through to commissioning
  • Well versed in high level technical project management initiatives such as contractor evaluation and selection, financials, schedules, estimates, contracts, constructability reviews, project phasing and earned value KPIs
  • Solid background in the management of project commissioning, installation, testing, as well as construction staff and deliverables
  • Experience in project management supporting EPC development (including site-layout, permitting, and/or regulatory approvals), transmission interconnection, procurement/contracting, and project turnover initiatives specifically in the high voltage utility-scale industry
  • Working knowledge technical and commercial elements of the major equipment / technology supply, engineering, and pre-construction processes, specifically around substation / transmission-line specifications, and warranty negotiation + management
  • Well versed in Critical Path Methodscheduling theories - Primavera & MS Project scheduling software
