Overview
Job Duties
An Advanced Practice Provider I (APP I) is a direct patient care provider licensed in the State of Florida and/or Georgia and provides medical services to patients as defined by their scope of practice and under the supervision of a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida/Georgia.
Clinical Area: Primary Outpatient Care in Community Health & Family Medicine and General Pediatrics. May perform minor Primary care procedures.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
• Obtains patient histories, performs physical examinations and/or diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as well as orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests.
• Formulates comprehensive health management plans for patients in collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, and other medical professionals to include progress notes, narrative discharge summaries, consults, etc. Facilitates patient participation in making health care decisions.
• Reviews, prescribes and/or recommends medications and treatments to patients
• Provides timely and appropriate referrals to patients in need of further medical care and services
• Educates and counsels patients/families regarding their health care, including routine health maintenance
• Enters pertinent clinical information in the patient's medical record in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with established compliance billing guidelines. Documents and closes open encounters, MyChart messages, and other EMR communications in accordance with institutional requirements.
• May provide education and instruction.
• Call coverage may be required specific to departmental needs.
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Experience Requirements
2 years Outpatient setting preferred
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required
Masters Nursing required
Masters Physician Assistant program required
Certification/Licensure
Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner License required at time of hire
Physician Assistant License required at time of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
PALS Certified preferred
