Essential Job Duties
Join our team as a Pest Control Supervisor and play a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming campus environment. This position is responsible for leading and supporting Pest Control Technicians while overseeing pest and wildlife management operations across university facilities. The Pest Control Supervisor manages a wide range of indoor and outdoor pest control services, including treatment and prevention for pests such as termites, rodents, roaches, ants, spiders, wasps, flies, and other common infestations. This role also supports wildlife control efforts involving animals such as raccoons, squirrels, birds, deer, snakes, bats, and more.
The ideal candidate will be dependable, proactive, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where problem-solving and communication are essential. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Directly supervise and manage the daily performance of two technicians, including approving timesheets/timecards, managing leave requests, and monitoring staff attendance, as well as administering performance work plans and conducting annual appraisals.
  • Coordinate professional development by identifying and submitting requests for necessary staff training and required certifications.
  • Update and enhance the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) procedures to align with campus-wide needs and environmental standards.
  • Drive service expansion to meet growing campus demands and improve overall response capabilities.
  • Facilitate official partnerships with University Entomology experts and external contractors to leverage specialized knowledge and resources.
  • Manage stakeholder communication, ensuring the campus community is informed of pest control activities and safety protocols.
  • Evaluate service quality by collecting customer feedback and conducting account reviews in collaboration with service managers.
  • Execute specialized treatment using established methods to control infestations throughout the campus.
  • Conduct independent inspections to identify infestation sources, assess property damage, and implement corrective actions.
  • Apply chemical solutions, powders, or gases according to technical specifications and ensure thorough cleanup of work sites.
  • Operate and maintain specialized equipment, including trucks equipped with power spraying systems.
  • Manage project workflows independently, coordinating with safety committees and clients during on-site inspections.
  • Enforce strict adherence to state regulations regarding the mixing, storage, and application of professional-grade chemicals.
  • Ensure EPA compliance by following all pesticide label directions and environmental protection mandates.
  • Minimize environmental impact by implementing updated, eco-friendly pest control practices across the university.
  • The ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders. The ability to explain their pest control process, identify timelines, and address occupants' concerns.
Other Responsibilities
  • This position is designated as mandatory personnel and may be required to report to work during adverse weather events or emergency situations, even when the University is operating under an alternate schedule or reduced operations.
  • Prioritizes and executes responsibilities independently, making effective operational decisions with minimal day-to-day oversight.
  • Maintain all required certifications and remain current with industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies through ongoing training, professional development opportunities, and Continuing Certification Units (CCUs).
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support emergency response needs and provide timely service for urgent pest control or wildlife-related concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience/Education
High School diploma or equivalency and demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in pest control.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of wildlife response protocol and certification.
  • Knowledge of pesticides and other pest control options.
Required License or Certification
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license is required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained.
  • Ability to keep current on all pest control required certification(s).
