Student Positions - (Non-Federal Work Study)

Wilbur Wright College

City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education.

Primary Objective:

Wilbur Wright College Student Worker positions encourages students to gain experience in their prospective fields by placing them in areas and departments aligned with their area of study whenever possible. Students can use their wages towards educational and living expenses.

Positions Available (but not limited to):

  • Student Ambassador (Advising & Transfer and Enrollment Management)
  • Star-Scholarship Student Ambassador (Advising & Transfer and Enrollment Management)
  • Peer Tutor (Academic Support Services)

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must be 16 years or older, have work permit consent, and eligible to work in the United States
  • Applicants must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours pre-credit or credit classes
  • Applicants must be pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate
  • Applicants must have and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (waived for first semester new students)
  • Applicants must be in "good standing" - no City Colleges of Chicago academic restrictions
  • Applicants must not be current Full or Part-time employees of the City Colleges of Chicago
  • All positions are "employment at-will"

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the students acts as the CCC student representative to prospective students, current students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Provides quality customer service to prospective students.
  • Helps guide prospective students in choosing to attend City Colleges of Chicago.
  • Answers questions that students may have about student life at one of the City Colleges of Chicago
  • Provides information about the re-admission, withdrawal and other academic transactions.
  • Provides information to prospective students and sometimes other students about extracurricular activities.
  • Participates in on-campus College recruiting activities.
  • Copies materials used for recruiting activities, admissions, registration and orientation.
  • Sets a positive/supportive introduction to the college for new and returning students.
  • Attends training sessions as required.
  • Adheres to the City Colleges of Chicago Customer Service Excellence Standards.
  • Assist with office duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required or actively pursuing a GED at the City Colleges of Chicago
  • Must be a City Colleges of Chicago Student
  • Knowledge of City Colleges of Chicago
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Commits to satisfying internal and external customers.
  • Promotes a positive role model and favorable public image as City Colleges of Chicago representative
  • Good interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and demonstrably self-motivated.

Salary:

  • $17.00 or $19.00/hr.
  • Offered rate will be determined based on whether assigned location is on campus or off campus.
