Sun River Health provides the highest quality comprehensive primary, preventative and behavioral health services to all who see it, regardless of insurance status and ability to pay, especially for the underserved and vulnerable. Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking a Full-time WIC Qualified Nutritionist to join our team in Monticello, NY.
The WIC Qualified Nutritionist is responsible for providing WIC Registration Nutrition Assessment and counseling staff of the WIC program at the assigned site(s), providing nutrition education for individuals and groups and performing job duties in compliance with systems and job specific standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for a WIC Qualified Nutritionist:
  • Utilizes a participant centered approach including opened questions, affirmations, eye contact, reflective listening and probing questions to complete assessment
  • Completes all mandated and non-mandated questions, assigning appropriate risks. Risks are reviewed with participant in a sensitive manner
  • Reviews previously gathered information to follow up and determine if revisions are needed
  • Provides positive input into the development of program policies and procedures. Actively demonstrates and promotes positive language and participant centered services throughout the workplace
  • Documentation in NYWIC is clear and concise regarding special formulas and exceptional cases
  • Promotes breastfeeding as the normal method of infant feeding and provides guidance to participants having breastfeeding problems
  • Additional tasks are completed by deadline or in a timely manner upon assignment
  • Utilizes tools and materials provided, such as common drive materials, scripts and dialogues
  • Responsible for off sites and reports.

Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition required, Master's in Nutrition preferred
Required Specialized Skills & Knowledge: CPR/BLS required, Registered Dietitian preferred

Salary: $49,140.00- $55,965.00 annually
