Job description

Job Summary

Whiteboard Marketing is seeking a strategic, hands-on Paid Media Manager to lead the next phase of growth for our paid advertising department. This role is responsible for paid media strategy, campaign performance, measurement, attribution, platform innovation, and team leadership across a portfolio of approximately 100 clients and roughly $2 million in managed ad spend annually.

The Paid Media Manager will oversee paid programs across Google Ads, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and other current or emerging advertising platforms. This person will support internal Account Managers, guide paid media specialists, and ensure Whiteboard Marketing remains ahead of the curve as automation, AI, privacy changes, and attribution continue to reshape digital advertising.

This is both a leadership and operator role. The ideal candidate can think strategically, execute with precision, solve tracking and attribution problems, and build a future-ready paid media function that drives measurable client growth.

Key Responsibilities

Paid Media Strategy & Performance

  • Own paid media strategy across search, social, display, video, and emerging paid channels for Whiteboard Marketing clients.
  • Develop and oversee campaign strategies aligned to client goals including lead generation, patient acquisition, appointment growth, brand visibility, and return on ad spend.
  • Manage pacing, budget allocation, bid strategy, targeting, audience segmentation, creative testing, and channel mix optimization across a large multi-account portfolio.
  • Identify growth opportunities across Google Ads, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Microsoft Ads, YouTube, Performance Max, Demand Gen, remarketing, and future platform expansions.
  • Translate client business goals into measurable paid media KPIs and optimization roadmaps.
  • Maintain accountability for campaign performance, efficiency, and business outcomes across the department.

Measurement, Conversion Tracking & Attribution

  • Own the accuracy and integrity of conversion tracking across all paid media accounts.
  • Lead implementation, auditing, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance of tracking through Google Tag Manager, GA4, platform pixels, offline conversion imports, call tracking, CRM integrations, and related tools.
  • Establish and improve attribution frameworks that connect paid media activity to qualified leads, appointments, revenue, and ROI.
  • Reconcile discrepancies between platform-reported conversions, analytics platforms, call tracking tools, and client-reported outcomes.
  • Partner internally to improve reporting clarity, attribution confidence, and measurement consistency across clients.
  • Build scalable tracking standards, QA processes, and documentation for the agency.

AI, Automation & Innovation

  • Lead adoption of AI-enabled paid media capabilities across platforms, workflows, and reporting.
  • Evaluate and implement AI-supported tools and platform features for campaign forecasting, audience expansion, bidding, creative variation, search term analysis, workflow automation, and reporting efficiency.
  • Stay current on changes in privacy, automation, machine learning, and platform product development, then translate those changes into agency best practices.
  • Test and document new paid media opportunities so Whiteboard Marketing can proactively evolve as paid advertising changes.
  • Use automation, scripts, rules, templates, and process improvements to increase efficiency without sacrificing strategic oversight.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Support

  • Serve as the paid media subject matter expert for internal teams and clients.
  • Support, coach, and elevate paid media specialists and other team members involved in campaign execution.
  • Provide guidance and strategic support to approximately 7 Account Managers as they communicate performance, opportunities, and recommendations to clients.
  • Help define processes, workflows, quality standards, and expectations for the paid media department.
  • Collaborate with SEO, content, web, account service, and leadership teams to improve landing page performance, lead quality, and client outcomes.
  • Participate in client calls and internal meetings as the senior paid media voice when needed.

Reporting & Business Insight

  • Deliver clear, actionable, data-driven performance insights rather than platform-only summaries.
  • Create and refine reporting frameworks that tie campaign metrics to business impact.
  • Identify performance trends, root causes, and optimization priorities across accounts and channels.
  • Present recommendations with confidence to internal stakeholders and, when needed, directly to clients.
  • Help leadership understand department performance, client opportunities, staffing needs, and future platform shifts.

Qualifications

Required

  • US based candidates only
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience managing paid media campaigns across Google Ads and paid social platforms, preferably in an agency environment.
  • 2+ years of experience in a senior-level, lead, or management capacity within paid media.
  • Proven success managing significant advertising budgets across multiple clients or brands.
  • Deep expertise in Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Google Tag Manager, and GA4.
  • Strong experience with conversion tracking, event architecture, attribution modeling, and ROI measurement.
  • Experience troubleshooting tracking issues across websites, landing pages, forms, call tracking tools, CRM systems, and ad platforms.
  • Strong understanding of lead generation marketing and performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize across many accounts, stakeholders, and deadlines without losing strategic focus.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain paid media strategy and performance to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and a bias toward action and accountability.

Preferred

  • Agency experience managing local-service or healthcare-related clients.
  • Experience with CallRail, Looker Studio, Zapier, HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar reporting and automation tools.
  • Familiarity with offline conversion tracking, enhanced conversions, server-side tagging, or Conversions API implementations.
  • Experience building or managing dashboards that connect media spend to pipeline, appointments, or revenue outcomes.
  • Google Ads, GA4, Meta, or LinkedIn certifications.
  • Experience mentoring specialists or building department processes and standards.
  • Working knowledge of landing page optimization, CRO principles, and paid media creative testing.

What Success Looks Like

  • Paid media campaigns are strategically aligned, efficiently managed, and consistently improving.
  • Tracking is dependable, conversion data is trusted, and attribution is clearer across channels.
  • Budget pacing, optimization, and reporting are handled with confidence and precision.
  • Account Managers are supported, clients receive stronger recommendations, and internal teams have a reliable paid media leader.
  • Whiteboard Marketing remains current and competitive as AI, automation, and platform changes reshape paid advertising.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The right person for this role is not just a campaign manager. They are a performance-minded leader who understands how to connect media buying, measurement, attribution, and emerging technology into a scalable growth engine. They are curious, commercially minded, technically capable, and comfortable leading change. They know how to improve what exists today while preparing the agency for where paid media is going next.

  • Annual Salary Range $80K-$95K
