About the Job - Community Mentor:Where else do you get paid to have fun on the job?
You will get to take a core group of 4 individuals out in the community to do fun educational and recreational events in the community.
You'll also take those individuals out to volunteer in two activities per week. Some of the places you can go are Meals on Wheels, food pantries, History Museum, Wheeler Mission, Public Library etc.
You are one of the keys to success of services we provide to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • You will work closely with adults of all ages who have intellectual and developmental disabilities to help them live their most fulfilling life.
  • You will plan parties, games, outings, and other activities based on the interests of the people you support - there are endless possibilities!
  • You will drive individuals to and from fun community activities and appointments.
  • You will be responsible for four people in the community on a daily basis.

What Qualifications do I need to be a Community Mentor?
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with people who have disabilities.
  • A valid Indiana Driver's License with 6 points or less
  • Must be willing and prepared to transport individuals in a reliable, personal vehicle.
  • Maintain valid automobile insurance and maintain a driving record that meets New Hope's Transportation and Vehicular Safety policy.
  • Must be willing and able to transport individuals in wheelchair accessible company vehicles.
