Wheeler Mission Ministries is a privately funded 501(c)3 non-profit, evangelical Christian ministry whose designated purpose is religious.  We are a Christ-centered ministry which is dedicated to sharing the Gospel and helping those experiencing homelessness and those in need.  Wheeler Mission Ministries considers every position one of ministry and a vital and valued part of our team. Job Title: Women’s Philanthropy Officer

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt 

Reports to: Chief Development Officer

Position Summary:

The Women’s Philanthropy Officer leads strategy and relationship-building efforts that connect women in the community to the mission and impact of Wheeler Mission. This role focuses on cultivating philanthropic relationships, guiding women-centered giving initiatives, and advancing engagement through events, volunteer leadership, and targeted fundraising strategies.  Working collaboratively within the Development team, the Women’s Philanthropy Officer strengthens donor relationships, expands participation in women-focused initiatives, and supports organizational fundraising priorities through meaningful engagement and stewardship.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Brief description of duties in order of priority

Key Area: Women’s Donor Engagement & Cultivation 

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of women donors, cultivating relationships that encourage ongoing and increased philanthropic engagement.
  • Identify, engage, and steward women with the capacity and interest to support Wheeler Mission through individual giving and collective initiatives.
  • Research and assess giving potential using available tools to inform cultivation and stewardship strategies.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of Wheeler Mission Programs, impact stories, and outcomes to support strategic donor engagement.

Key Area: Mary Wheeler Circle & Special Initiatives

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Mary Wheeler Circle, including strategy, programming, communications, and donor experience.
  • Collaborate with volunteer leaders and advisory members to strengthen engagement and participation.
  • Support and participate in women-focused events and special initiatives, including milestone campaigns and anniversaries.
  • Partner with internal teams to align women’s philanthropy initiatives with broader fundraising and engagement efforts.

Key Area: Strategic Partnerships & Fundraising Support

  • Work closely with the Chief Development Officer, Director of Major Gifts, and other Development staff to align cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Support capital campaign efforts and special projects through relationship-building, donor engagement, and committee collaboration.
  • Partner with internal teams to align women’s philanthropy initiatives with broader fundraising and engagement efforts.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:  

This position has no direct staff supervisory responsibilities but works collaboratively with Center for Women & Children staff and may lead volunteers in specific tasks or events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fundraising/Development, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • Experience in fundraising, donor engagement, events, or relationship-based roles.

Technical/Software Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation tools.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

To perform the essential job functions of this position, a candidate must be able to:

  • Travel locally to Wheeler Mission sites, meetings, and speaking engagements.
  • Set up and facilitate projects/events, sometimes outdoors.
  • Lift boxes, tables, chairs, and other items up to 20 pounds.

Other Requirements for Employment

  • This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week: flexibility to work nights, weekends, and some holidays as needed.
