Job Description Summary
EOU is soliciting adjunct applications for qualified instructors in the following academic discipline:
The College of Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Health Sciences at Eastern Oregon University is recruiting to establish an adjunct instructor applicant pool to teach outdoor activity (OUT) courses in Physical Activity and Health and Human Performance.
The appointment begins based on departmental needs but no earlier than September 16, 2021. See webpage for full OUT course offerings: https://www.eou.edu/outdoor/out-courses/
Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities would include 1, 2, or 3-credit classes in outdoor activities focused on introductory or intermediate level skill sets. Particular course offerings may vary depending on department needs and adjunct instructor qualifications.

*Adheres to all EOU's policies including the policies on Prohibited Discrimination & Harassment and the Professional Standards of Conduct.
Required Qualifications
• A high school diploma or GED.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
• Current certification in CPR/First-Aid
• 2-year minimum experience directly related to topic/course to be instructing.
• Valid driver's license.
*Documented capability to learn online learning software application(s)
*Ability to effectively inspire and teach students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles in online education environment
*Successful completion of a EOU background check and submission of valid work authorization documents
Preferred Qualifications
• An undergraduate degree or Master's Degree from an accredited institution in a related field to the course offering.
• 2-year experience in leadership and/or instructing position.
• Current certification in Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
Candidate demonstrated at least one year of instructing in the topic being taught
• Experience guiding groups of youth or adults in semi-remote natural settings.
• Any certifications specific to the related field.
*Competency in the use of an online learning management software application(s) ( i.e. CANVAS, Blackboard, etc.)
