Job description

Statement of Purpose

The Wellness Center Instructor conducts Wellness Center programs, classes, workshops or alike within their scope of “wellness”. They will be responsible for planning their programing, recording attendance, and general tasks of teaching at The Wellness Center Facility or off-site locations. Instruction includes but is not limited to: personal training, group fitness, health coaching, holistic classes and more.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reports to The Director of The Wellness Center  
  • Designs programing of materials for wellness participants depending on their expertise.
  • Actively participates in The Wellness Center functions of hosting classes, workshops, or alike.
  • Actively participates in record keeping such as attendance, tracking of hours and helps with promotion and advertising of above.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date with all licenses, certifications, and trainings.
  • Supports The Wellness Center by sharing materials for marketing purposes and growing our catch area.
  • Agrees to sharing their name, photos/likeness, and schedule with the public for advertising purposes.

Working Conditions

  • Varying conditions within the realm of expertise
  • Some travel within Orleans and Northern Essex counties and occasionally to other Vermont locations.
  • Other conditions will vary depending on the different settings of community-based events and activities.

Job Requirements

  • Certified in Personal Training and/or Group Fitness and Nutrition, Health Coaching and/or other Wellness Practitioner areas and/or ability to obtain certifications within six months of hire.
  • Bachelor’s degree in health education or exercise science discipline or equivalent.
  •  Previous experience in the field of health promotion/wellness is recommended.
  •  Demonstrated abilities of multitasking skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Willingness to fill in as needed.
  • Experience is recommended but not required. Willing to train the right individuals.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, The Wellness Instructors is unique in that it regularly requires many physical requirements to physically teach and train in a multitude of modalities.  Some instructors will also require the ability to fill in at a moment’s notice for classes, workshops and alike.
