The Role and Why It's Important
As the Manager of Health Wellness Home at Hy-Vee, you'll work alongside the Store Director to keep daily operations running at their best while building a team that delivers exceptional customer service and strong results. You'll lead by example, develop talent, and ensure the store is operating in alignment with Hy-Vee's values of honesty, integrity, friendliness, and genuine care for every customer and employee.

What You'll Do
No two days are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:
  • Support the Store Director in supervising and directing all store employees, ensuring alignment with company goals and standards
  • Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to build a strong, high-performing team
  • Handle employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, in partnership with the Store Director and HR
  • Lead by example in delivering outstanding customer service and fostering a positive, inclusive, and results-driven work environment
  • Assist in managing store operations including opening and closing procedures, scheduling, inventory control, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment
  • Coordinate daily workflows to maximize productivity and efficiency across departments
  • Ensure all equipment and store systems are functioning properly and coordinate repairs as needed
  • Assist in overseeing merchandising efforts, ensuring shelves are stocked, displays are appealing, and pricing is accurate
  • Help manage inventory levels, including ordering and restocking, to minimize waste and prevent out-of-stocks
  • Support the execution of promotional strategies and seasonal displays
  • Coordinate recruiting, hiring, orientation, and training of store employees, reflecting the diversity of the communities served
  • Assist in developing pricing structure and merchandising plans to meet established goals
  • Help ensure proper procedures are in place for safeguarding financial assets
  • Monitor competitor pricing and stay current on new items and industry trends
  • Maintain store operations in compliance with Hy-Vee's policies, applicable regulations, and the Code of Ethics
  • Represent Hy-Vee positively in the community and encourage employee involvement in company and community activities
  • Assist in all areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as they arise
  • You'll receive direction and support from: Regional Vice Presidents, Store Director, and Assistant Store Director or Store Manager

Your Skills
To be successful in this role, you'll need to be able to:
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a large team in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and model the behavior you expect from your team
  • Use logical thinking to solve complex problems with multiple variables
  • Communicate clearly in writing and verbally, including preparing and delivering presentations
  • Perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations as needed
  • Handle confidential information including sales reports, profit and loss reports, wages, and employee files with discretion
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Dale Carnegie and perimeter department training preferred; five or more years of similar or related managerial experience required

Accountable and Reports to: Regional Vice Presidents, Store Director, and Assistant Store Director or Store Manager
Direct Reports: All store employees
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Dale Carnegie and perimeter department training preferred
  • Five or more years of similar or related managerial experience required

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas
  • Where applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation
  • Where applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment
  • Where applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
  • Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties

Working Environment
This is a fast-moving role performed across all areas of a retail store environment. You may encounter exposure to dust, noise, temperature extremes, equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, and cleaning chemicals or solvents. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.
The anticipated annual starting wage for this position is $41,600.00 to $71,500.00 depending on experience.
