Job Title: Wellness Director
Salary: $70,000

Duties:

  • Ensures the CAPLICO Core Values and Code of Conduct are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensures compliance with Resident Rights and HIPAA policies at all times.
  • Establishes and maintains positive, respectful, and supportive environment for all residents, staff, families, and community guests. Ensures orientation and welcoming process occurs for all new residents and new staff.
  • Manages the Wellness department staff.
  • Interviews, hires, orients, coaches, counsels, and evaluates Wellness staff. Supports professional growth of staff.
  • Encourages teamwork, promotes wellness philosophy, and supports open communication and collaborative problem solving. Leads by example.
  • Actively protects resident and staff safety by recognizing, reporting and taking immediate action to minimize risk of accident or injury. Observes for any signs of resident abuse or neglect and takes immediate action to prevent harm. Reports incidents according to community policy and state laws.
  • Ensures all infection control guidelines are met and appropriate tracking and surveillance procedures are followed according to community and state requirements.
  • Participates in designated community meetings.
  • Maintains knowledge of current assisted living regulations. Responsible for compliance with company policies/procedures, pharmacy policies/procedures, and state and federal agency regulations.
  • Participates in initial orientation and ongoing training of all Wellness staff regarding resident health and wellness. Ensures proper training of Medication Aides in compliance with community and state requirements.
  • Oversees mentoring of and performance evaluations for Wellness staff.
  • Ensures staff hepatitis immunization and series tracking is complete.
  • Ensures adequate staffing levels that meet program and clinical needs based upon state regulations and community budgets.
  • Conducts regular in-service and staff meetings.
  • Actively participates in Census Development.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director, Community Liaison, and Wellness team to assess residents' needs and to place them appropriately within the continuum of care.
  • Leads Wellness team meetings for ongoing review of residents' care needs and in creating appropriate support plans based on changes in resident care needs.
  • Ensures completion of resident assessments and service/care plans in accordance with community policies and state regulations, reviews them for appropriateness, ensures that service/care plans are available to appropriate staff. Ensures that residents receive the services/care specified in their plans.
  • Encourages resident and family participation in service/care planning. As appropriate for resident confidentiality, keeps family informed of resident's progress.
  • Collaborates with the resident to coordinate health services with physicians, therapy providers, pharmacy and other agencies to assure optimal care. Ensures communications meet state and federal guidelines for confidentiality and resident rights.
  • Collaborates with other community departments and contracted providers to promote optimal resident health and well-being.
  • Responds promptly and appropriately to resident emergencies.
  • Ensures adequate care supplies are maintained and ordered accordingly.
  • Performs additional duties, within scope of practice, as necessary.
  • Maintains valid licenses/certifications as required by state and/or federal regulatory bodies.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Works in office area(s) as well as throughout the nursing service area (i.e. nurse's stations, resident rooms, etc.).
  • Moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Interacts with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
  • Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
  • Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors.
  • Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. May be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  • Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
  • Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
  • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
