Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs various types of weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to manufacture product to customer drawings and specifications.

This position is in Decatur Alabama; there is no relocation assistance for this position - Please do not apply if you are not willing to drive to Decatur.

Must be able to work 1st or 2nd shift - 7am - 3:30 pm or 1:30pm - 10:00pm

Responsibilities

Welding: Perform high-quality, manual Mig (GMAW) welding on pipe and pipe assemblies.

Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interprets, technical drawings and welding procedures to determine pipe specifications, angles, and welding requirements.

Quality Control: Perform visual inspections of welds for defects (cracks, porosity, lack of fusion) and use tools such as gauges to ensure adherence to quality standards.

Material Preparation: Bevel, clean and fit-up pipes, ensuring accurate alignment and proper root openings before tacking and welding.

Equipment Set up & Maintenance: Must be able to set up and adjust the Mig welding parameters and maintain tools such as grinders, torches and welding guns

Safety Adherence: Strictly follow safety protocols, including wearing proper PPE (welding helmet, safety glasses and gloves), ensuring light curtains/safety gates are functioning, and reporting near-misses.

Welds in flat, horizontal and vertical positions.

• Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.

• Positions and clamps work pieces together or assembles them in jig or fixtures.

• Chips off excess weld, slag and spatter.

• Operates grinders and DA sanders to clean up/smooth welds.

• Must be able to perform visual inspection and dimensional inspection using basic measuring tools.

• Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.

• Update computer records and paperwork in accordance with production requirements.

• Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on welders as required.

Communication: Must have a working command of the English language and be able to communicate orally and in writing.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in welding and fitting
  • Technical certification in welding or metal fabrication
  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Arc welding techniques
  • Strong blueprint interpretation skills
  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and attention to detail
