Production Worker - Weekends
Full Time
Oregon, Coburg, OR, US

APEL Extrusions is an independent extruder, finisher and fabricator of aluminum extrusions serving the commercial, residential, and industrial markets of Western Canada and the Western United States. With locations in Calgary, Canada, Coburg, Oregon, and Phoenix, Arizona.

Weekend Press Saw Helper
  • Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7am-7pm (must be able to work all three days)
  • $0.50 shift premium
  • Overtime applies after 10 hours worked in one day (work 36 hours, get paid for 39)
Production Workers start in a saw helper position where they prepare extruded aluminum to be loaded into age ovens. This includes moving large pieces of aluminum together with another saw helper, working with the Saw Operator to ensure quality compliance and customer specifications are being followed, and checking quality defects, scrapping defective material and using a forklift to transfer the material.
General Duties and responsibilities
  • Work with large industrial equipment.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment - ear plugs, safety glasses, and boots - at all times.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures in accordance with our quality management system
  • Review and follow work order instructions and best practice requirements.
  • Adhere and promote all safety requirements.
  • Read and understand dimensional prints.
  • Operate measuring devices.
  • Operate a forklift.

Skills
  • High degree of independence and accountability - Good attendance is required.
  • Detailed oriented individual able to frequently perform multiple tasks at a given time.
  • Able to independently perform simple calculations.
  • Communicate well and interact with others effectively.
  • Working knowledge of extrusion press responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Manufacturing/Production/Warehouse experience required.

Working Environment
  • Exposed to a production environment which includes noise, moving machinery, forklifts and fluctuations in temperature.
  • Personal Protective Equipment provided.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, twisting, repetitive motion and ability to lift, push, pull at least 25 pounds.
