Job description

At IAP LLC, the Body Shop Helper is responsible for sanding, prepping and taping of vehicles to be painted; wet sanding and buffing vehicles after the refinishing process to remove any imperfections from the factory. The Body Shop Helper will also change out parts, remove broken or damaged parts and replace with new parts.
Essential Duties:
  • Wet sand and buff refinished vehicles.
  • Remove imperfections from refinished surfaces with 10-micron sandpaper.
  • Utilize high-speed buffer to remove sand scratches and polish to original finish.
  • Tape off windows, molding, etc.
  • Professionally and courteously interact with other employees, customers and truck drivers concerning any defects in finished products.
  • Buff vehicles with factory defects.
  • Ensure a spotter is present when backing up vehicles.
  • Maintain a clean and hazard free work environment and follow all policies and procedures regarding safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Shift: Monday - Friday 7:00am-3:30pm with possible overtime and/or weekend work

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid US Driver's License
  • Obtain and Maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) issued by the Department of Homeland Security
  • Drive both automatic and straight shift vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Training in auto body painting.

Physical Working Attributes:
  • Work performed in an open shop with high noise level.
  • Work with paints and solvents.
  • Stand, bend, kneel and or stoop throughout shift.
