Job Description Summary:

We are looking for a Company Operated Farm Supervisor who is responsible for the day-to-day management and performance of company-operated poultry farms focused on raising pullets. This position provides leadership and direction to hourly Farm Associates while ensuring birds receive proper care, nutrition, environmental conditions, and biosecurity throughout the growing period.

Job Description:

The Farm Supervisor is accountable for flock health, animal welfare, farm productivity, employee safety, regulatory compliance, facility conditions, and accurate farm records. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can effectively manage people, make sound decisions, identify problems early, and maintain high standards across multiple poultry houses and farm operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and supervise hourly Farm Associates, including scheduling, training, coaching, performance management, and daily work assignments.
  • Lead daily farm activities related to pullet care, including feeding, watering, environmental management, flock observation, mortality management, vaccination support, and general husbandry.
  • Monitor flock health, behavior, growth, feed and water consumption, mortality, and other key production indicators.
  • Work closely with company poultry health, nutrition, production, maintenance, and management teams to maintain flock performance.
  • Ensure proper implementation of company standards for animal welfare, biosecurity, sanitation, and disease prevention.
  • Maintain appropriate environmental conditions within poultry houses, including ventilation, temperature, lighting, humidity, and equipment operation.
  • Conduct routine inspections of poultry houses, equipment, grounds, and facilities and promptly address or escalate issues.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of production records, flock reports, employee records, maintenance requests, and other required documentation.
  • Manage feed, supplies, equipment, and other farm resources to minimize waste and control operating costs.
  • Train employees on safe work practices, animal care procedures, biosecurity requirements, equipment operation, and company policies.
  • Promote a positive work environment focused on teamwork, accountability, safety, animal welfare, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA requirements, environmental regulations, and applicable poultry industry standards.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and service personnel to ensure farm equipment and facilities remain operational and well maintained.
  • Respond appropriately to flock health concerns, equipment failures, emergencies, and other operational issues.
  • Participate in flock placement, transfers, vaccination activities, cleanout, downtime, and preparation of facilities for the next flock.
  • Analyze farm performance and identify opportunities to improve flock health, labor efficiency, production results, and overall farm performance.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company information and perform other duties as assigned.
Leadership Expectations

The Farm Supervisor is expected to lead by example and establish clear expectations for the Farm Associates. The supervisor should be visible and engaged in the daily operation of the farm, provide timely feedback, recognize strong performance, and address performance concerns professionally and consistently.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in animal science, poultry science, agriculture, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in poultry, livestock, agriculture, farm operations, or a related production environment preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or team-lead experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of poultry husbandry, flock management, animal welfare, and biosecurity practices preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with hourly employees and provide clear direction and coaching.
  • Strong observation, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret production data and use information to make operational decisions.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to maintain accurate electronic and written records.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between company-operated farm locations as required.
Physical and Work Requirements
  • Ability to work in a poultry farm environment with exposure to dust, feathers, manure, odors, noise, varying temperatures, and agricultural conditions.
  • Ability to work around live poultry and operate or work near farm equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and perform physical farm activities for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move materials and equipment as required by the operation.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency situations when necessary.
  • Must follow all company biosecurity, safety, animal welfare, and personal protective equipment requirements.
